Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Pie Fight or American Pie Fight? Because this one doesn't have "American" in it...

that hardly matters - irrational fighting over cultural memes has nothing to do with one specific culture.

you are the media you consume.

let me add to that. It looks like you presented this as a thread to joke about general hostilities, but from my experience here a good portion of the hostility amounts to fighting for cultural memes. It simmers beneath a thin veneer of passive aggressive language and denials. It's much more intense here than other forums with any sort of international flavor I have participated in. I notice myself behaving much more defensively than usual.

Look, I think you should really write a diary about that. I don't know what your experience has been elsewhere, but I have difficulty seeing how there cannot be tension over cultural memes on an international forum. And frankly, I not only think there's a good atmosphere here, I think most other members do too.

As for this thread, it had nothing to do with the kind of hostility you talk about, and I would rather wish you wouldn't try to project the cultural memes thing on to it. Have you read it?

i don't see anything hostile here too...

apart from the usual hostility, ugliness and crudity of a British version of great and powerful American language
