US Senate slams Russia's policy

A draft resolution about condemning the Russian Federation's 'provocative and dangerous' policy against Georgia has been brought to US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

The draft resolution has been proposed by Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden.

It is stated in the draft resolution that 'declaring that the Russian Federation have to recognize diplomatically Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states, with this step the certain officials of the government of the Russian Federation threaten the region's peace and safety and in whole republic of Georgia'.

According to the draft resolution, US senate condemns recent statement of officials of the government of the Russian Federation that the Russian Federation has to recognize independence of breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia such steps will be assessed as an infringement of the sovereignty of Georgia and all obligations in the frames of the international peacekeeping efforts.

'The senate calls the government of the Russian Federation to disavow these statements', it is stressed in the draft resolution.
