but as far as i know they're hard to fight, legally. one example of sucessful pushback was earlier this year in sacramento, where a bunch of gardeners managed to rattle the city council's cage enough that they backtracked on a measure to ban front yard gardens or excessive amounts of fruit trees.

i'd totally grow chickens in my side yard if the neighborhood association didn't ban 'em.
