It looks like there might actually be a chance in hell that I could possibly, maybe, qualify for the editing/writing position without anyone laughing too loudly, but it wouldn't both pay the rent and pay back the student loans. Not to mention what would happen to my health insurance eligibility if I had to return to the States. <Sigh>

Darn!  I wish I had seen it earlier, but you have until Friday...  It's the kind of second career I would love, but I don't qualify.

Maybe, by the time you got back there will be universal health?

Not in only one year. If we see anything that quickly it will be a requirement to have health insurance whether we can afford it or not, similar to laws regarding car insurance here (illegal to drive without it).
