War sells newspapers

That's not relevant. Selling newspapers makes no money. Selling Ads in Newspapers makes money.

As you see, in 2006, 79.7% of their revenue was from advertising, and just 14.1% was from readers. Gosh, I wonder whose tastes they tend to reflect?

Not really. I wanted to point out that newspapers don't try too hard to increase their circulation. I can't find the article at the moment, but there are quite a few corporations who intentionally reduced their circulation by a large amount to cut back on delivery costs.
