But can they make a green chili cheeseburger?

(The world of haute cuisine breathlessly awaits an answer.)

We allow barbarians to eat their own food, but calling a cheeseburger "haute cuisine" will get you burned at the stake in front of the cathedral...

No thanks.  I prefer my steak, when I have steak, medium rare.  Burning one - even in front of the cathedral - is devoutly to be avoided.

haute cuisine it ain't, but simple food done well can be nice at times. I felt one of my occasional cravings for a good burger yesterday and as I was near my favorite burger joint I happily satisfied it. (Big Nick's - a grimy uncomfortable yummy holdover from the pre-gentrification UWS) Hilariously, it seems that some of the local hotels are recommending it so you've got a sprinkling of upscale Euro bobo types alternatively horrified or delighting in 'authenticity'.
