By the way, the first time I heard of him was when he beat Ricky Martin... in one of your top awards shows:

In 1998, Iglesias released his third album, Cosas del Amor (Things of Love)....
He won an American Music Award in the category of Favorite Latin Artist against Ricky Martin and Los Tigres del Norte.

Also, choosing someone from Miami avoids uncomfortable issues about choosing this or that European country over others...
