Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Sustainability and solidarity are beginning to be a topics in europe. The transition towns concept must include both ideas into its core concept for the simple reason that it is all about localism, ie not exhausting resources. And co-operatives.

And a lot of people are talking about it. The only thing seemingly in the way of a drift back to the land is the cost of land itself. It's an impossible dream in the UK (possibly not in N Scotland, but planning restrictuions might get in the way of windmills).

I'm still hoping for central France or W Ireland, but need to sell my flat.

4 of my friend/coupless (much younger than I am) have each started veg gardens this year for the first time. I hope that this will spread - the war generation were all gardeners out of necessity. But the skills are not hard to acquire. In fact maybe I should be thinking about a Finnish gardening TV series - unlike the UK they are not splattered all over the schedules as in the UK.

BTW Tomatoes grown in a sack can be placed almost anywhere, even in a tiny garden - and they taste delicious of course.

Polytunnels and ground source heating should be a winner in Finland.

You could probably get funding from the polytunnel suppliers (sponsored by Plastatunnels).

I guess it is possible. I prefer to produce for the state non-commercial broadcaster though. If I go to one of the commercial channels they'll say 'Lovely idea, Sven, super! But can we do it with two lesbians?'

That was not for comic effect. That actually happened on a proposed fishing series that I 'polished' for the producer. I almost hit the guy.

I guess you haven't seen US TV lately. A new one is "I survived a Japanese Game Show". Others are equally enlightening...
