better a writer who knows a lot about rocks, than an occasional-writer rockhound.
writing this good is as rare as... (fill in the blank).

a ruby in your backyard?

a diamond in the dust?

a spiral nebula in deep space?

if i could get that kind of compressed meaning into my lyrics, i'd die a happy songwriter.

but all this focus on the writing is actually a distraction, it's the humanity that's startling, the prose the horse it rides in on.

quite the steed, though!
