Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.
Good luck with that, either that guy has gone or he's a dead man walking.

But the article quoted at the top presupposes that there is a strategy involved in what is happening. We all know that it is impossible to have a WWII style military victory in AfPak, so what is needed is a political strategy and a military policy that is driven by that strategy.

however, every man and his yak can see that Washington has entirely sub-contracted the conduct of the "Middle Eastern war" to either the Pentagon or, more likely, the encircling vulture military corporates who launder their profits through the tax efficient Hindu Kusch.

So there is no politics here, there's just a war. But even then, it is plain that the way that the war is conducted seems intended to inflame the situation. No wonder consultants talk about a generational presence in Afpak, they're going out of their way to create it. It is, after all, good for profits, good for the Pentagon, good for the recently established security industrial complex.

In fact it's good for everyone except the people of Afghanistan, Pakistan and America. but who cares about them ?
