Family friends fortuitously escaped the slaughter in Chile. The husband was a TV news presenter and Allende supporter and the wife was an artist. They happened to be in Venezuela on account of her art when the coup went down. Many of their friends and acquaintances died in the stadium. Both remained marked by the events for life. Their son and our son are and have been friends since 3rd grade.
