Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

What's Lex Luther Up To?
To recap: Scott cancels a high-speed rail project that would not have cost the State a dime -- but approves an Amtrak-style `Sunrail' service requiring enormous operating subsidies.

It is almost as if there were a conspiracy in this country to cancel good transit projects, and fund bad ones.

The Sunrail was not necessarily a bad project, though the cost was inflated ... why, provide a closed platform station with the HSR, and it could well have been very useful.

Oh, wait, they cancelled the HSR which would have made the SunRail useful. Never mind.

The HSR would have used right of way long held by the FDOT for that specific purpose ~ the SunRail used Class I railroad right of way with what some suggest was a sweetheart deal for the right of way owner.

I've been accused of being a Marxist, yet while Harpo's my favourite, it's Groucho I'm always quoting. Odd, that.
