Scraped is also a word, but not the word you were looking for.

scrape  (skrp)v. scraped, scrap·ing, scrapes v.tr.1. To remove (an outer layer, for example) from a surface by forceful strokes of an edged or rough instrument: scraped the wallpaper off before painting the wall.

As askod explains, there are two verbs: scrape and scrap.

Scrap doubles the p in scrapped, scrapping etc. So scraped and scrapped, though legitimate spellings, mean quite different things.

Spellcheckers, of course, just check against a list of words, and don't advise on this kind of problem :)
