Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.
Here are some non-rail pictures shot during last summer's journey on the Mariazellerbahn.

The main street in Mariazell:

The Mariazell Basilica (a particularly odd mix of 15th-century Gothic and 17th-18th-century Baroque):

The dark Erlauf Reservoir (a bit north of Mariazell):

The Lassingbach creek meanders across the empty Lassing Reservoir (one of the two feeding the power plant which supplies power to the rail line):

From the mountainside south of the summit tunnel, a view across the valley of the Erlauf river at the Ötscher (1,893 m):

Another clearing on the other side of the mountain (seen from the middle level of the Himmelreppe):

The evening Sun behind a small cloud produced a beautiful optical effect:

*Lunatic*, n.
One whose delusions are out of fashion.
