EU Commission taken to court over new emissions tests for vehicles

...  which will allow manufacturers to keep their emissions control systems secret and, according to the group, cause another Dieselgate-type scandal.

ClientEarth said on Monday (9 October) it was "seeking legal standing in the Court of Justice of the EU".

ClientEarth is calling for the confidentiality provision of Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1154 to be annulled at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).
A successful challenge would make this the first case ever to be allowed before EU judges by an NGO and would pave the way for more environmental challenges against the EU and its institutions, it said.

Lawmakers, Facebook in standoff over lifting veil on Russian ads

Some US senators, ironically unable or unwilling to rely on recall, need to see 3,000 advertisements (text and display) thought to have influenced millions of voter decisions (excluding their own) in the general election '16.

Warner's goal "is to be able to require disclosure even on ads that deal with social commentary or political issues without mentioning candidates at all," his office said. That would cover ads such as inflammatory, Russian-financed ads during the 2016 campaign that referenced the "Black Lives Matter" movement spawned by police shootings of African-American men.

But Facebook refuses to reproduce these ads, evidently, unless served a subpoena by, I dunno. Blackagendareport.com fingers House representative Robin Kelly as exemplary of a legislators' "movement" to sanitize democratic polemics.
"She essentially is asking Facebook to limit or ban content on Facebook that is 'politically divisive' or whatever that means. "
