Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

I was there :)

The blogosphere has changed significantly also due to the effects of social media and a broader public participating in the "debate".  I followed Martin Longman from dKos to Booman Tribune and an early entry to ET. The close-knit community of the Pond has evaporated in time, in part due to the Iraq War but certainly the hostility came about during the 2016 Democratic primary and the promotion of a wrong candidate who had little to offer the American voters.

As my primary interest is US foreign policy, especially due to the 9/11 attacks and the poor reaction of the Bush/Cheney administration to go into Afghanistan and later into Iraq without a goal and end game. The calculated policy to punish Saddam and create chaos in the Middle East has continued under Obama and Trump. NATO has lost it's purpose as a defence pact of nations.

The US conservatives and the British Tory party have succeeded to undermine democratic principles, planet ecology and continued to wreck the environment to meet demands of their capitalist partners to maximize profits. Will inequality lead to a necessary social revolution?

Global Warming - distance between America and Europe is steadily increasing.

A lot of people made the mistake of assuming they were living in a liberal democracy, and voting according to liberal principles would make a difference.
