In Ireland the numbers today are 390 new cases and 21 deaths. Both possibly representing a slight flattening or stabilisation of previous trend.

The deaths are particularly high because 40 clusters have been identified in nursing homes for the elderly many of whom would also have underlying conditions and the median age of deaths to date is 80+. Bad as these figures are, there is at least some prospect that those outbreaks can be more easily contained within the confines of the nursing some patients and staff.

Leo Varadker has re-registered as a Doctor and will be putting in a shift a week as a symbolic contribution to the "war effort". Over 50,000 retired or former health care workers have volunteered their services.

If I get the bug and he is the GP ringing back to assess my condition, I will have a few things to say to him!
