"Free State" Blotter
Roy McGrath was indicted on Tuesday on wire fraud and embezzlement charges related to the six-figure severance payout he received after leaving his position as director of the Maryland Environmental Service (MES) on May 30, 2020. McGrath left that position to serve as Maglev Hogan's chief of staff, a position he held from June 1, 2020 to Aug. 17, 2020.
[...]
If McGrath is convicted on all of the federal charges, which include four counts of wire fraud and two counts of embezzlement, he could face up to 100 years in prison. Additionally, McGrath faces 27 state charges that each carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Maryland seeks consultant for new Baltimore treatment center, $450M
Plans call for the treatment center to be developed on the grounds of the former Baltimore City Detention Center, which was closed in 2015.

The old building has been nearly demolished to make way for the new facility. Gov. Larry "Maglev" Hogan said he envisions it becoming a place where certain defendants charged with nonviolent crimes could go for treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues.

$450K hush money
These payments could resolve the many lawsuits that have been filed against the U.S. government by parents and children who were subjected to the TRAUMATIC separations begun by the administration of impeached former president Donald TRUMP.
[...]
The number of families entitled to the payments is unclear. ACLU officials have identified more than 5,000 children who were separated at the border. However, The WSJ notes that only about 940 claims have been filed thus far. Still, the payout could be upwards of $1 billion.

Teachers in a Texas school district were told last week that a new state law requiring them to present multiple perspectives about "widely debated and currently controversial" issues meant they needed to make "opposing" views on the Holocaust available to students.
What does the law have to say about opposing views on Israel, let alone opposing views on Texas itself?

Noam Chomsky is in favour of isolating vaccine skeptics from society:
"How can we get food to them? Well, that's actually their problem."

He's right. If anything he's too lenient.

The usual nonsense about "natural immunity" comes up every time. I can't even!

And, I agree, they should lose their pension. This is no laughing matter. Do they think this is a good time to renegotiate pay? Chicago is safer than it's been in decades!

The good news, hopefully, is that this should be the remaining Trumpists on the force. Once city down ... how many to go? Texas probably won't fall in line - may have to wait for them to secede.
