Arnott has been charged with conspiracy to commit criminal damage against property belonging to Israel's Elbit Systems in the UK and its property manager Jones Lang LaSalle.
Palestine Action activist Richard Barnard, who is also facing multiple charges in relation to direct actions against Elbit and LaSalle, told The Electronic Intifada that he recently experienced something similar when questioned by London's Metropolitan Police.

Of course all related security products "made in Israel" has a back door ...

Australian military to stop using Elbit's battle management system | JPost - May 5, 2021 |

ADM Comment: This flies in the of industry sources who note that in the past 12 months the program has failed two security related milestones and the Commonwealth enforced a stop payment point last year.

Elbit must have known that they were heading towards a decision point that was not entirely in their favour. The suddenness and nature of the cancellation however cannot be answered without calling into question the national security aspect. Back doors into such systems are well known and even expected in some cases. What has happened in this case? We may never know the exact nature of the issue at this unclassified level. The is the nature of Defence.

Biden's U.N. honeymoon is over
The United States, isolated among the 15 members of the U.N. Security Council in closed-door discussions around issuing a statement calling for restraint on all sides, twice this week used its veto power to block agreement on the statement, diplomats from three Security Council members told POLITICO.
Jim Crow Fusion filibuster quashed
When China, Vietnam, Tunisia and several European members of the Council then proposed to move to an open debate on the issue Friday, the U.S. issued a last-minute objection Thursday, meaning the debate will not take place until at least Tuesday.

Israeli military accused of using media to trick Hamas
Hours later, the military issued a "clarification." There were no troops inside Gaza. But by then, several major news outlets had erroneously reported the ground offensive was under way.

"They didn't lie," said Or Heller, a veteran military correspondent on Israel's Channel 13 TV. "It was a ["]manipulation["]. It was smart and it was successful."

This is very unfair. How are the poor Israelis to know when this is US policy and when the opposite is the case?

India: How COVID disaster dents Narendra Modi's well-crafted image
"'Analysts tend to rely on a traditional model of voter behavior. In India, people actually decide upfront that they like Modi and then they find different justifications to provide that support,' [Milan Vaishnav, director of the South Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace] added."

The runner ups are also interesting...

Sweden is runner up, so I had to go look at the data. It says on the bottom of the chart "usng data from Forbes world's billionaires list"

Checking that list, I notice the highest ranked swede is Stefan Persson owner of H&M. So the value of H&M has risen quicker then the Swedish GDP during 2021. But most H&M departments aren't in Sweden.

Next on the list are the Rausings, owners of Tetra Lavel. Their whole family moved to London some decades ago to avoid taxes. And Tetra Lavel is also a global company.

And so on. So compared to its size, Sweden has as passport holders an outsized proportion of the global ownership class, I guess?

Interesting concept, poor execution.

Protasevich was flying on an intra-EU flight from Athens to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, when the plane was diverted to Minsk. According to online flight data, the plane was over Belarusian airspace when it diverted course but was closer to Vilnius than Minsk.

Forcing the emergency landing of a European jetliner would be an extraordinary act even for Lukashenko's government, which has launched a broad crackdown on opposition leaders and independent media.

European officials reacted angrily on Sunday, as governments that have been strongly critical of Lukashenko called the grounding of an airliner a dangerous act without precedent.

Without precedent?

Macron asks Rwanda to forgive France over 1994 genocide role
French President Emmanuel Macron has asked Rwandans to forgive France for its role in the 1994 Rwandan genocide in which about 800,000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus died.

Speaking at the genocide memorial in Rwanda's capital Kigali, he said France had not heeded warnings of impending carnage and had for too long "valued silence over examination of the truth".

But France had not been an accomplice in the killings, Mr Macron added.

Rwanda's leader praised his speech.

President Paul Kagame said, "His words were something more valuable than an apology. They were the truth." He called it "an act of tremendous courage".
