Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Historically, wasn't there a call for a Nordic military alliance?

Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO)

Rightwing won't bring peace in a world in turmoil. The world has witnessed NATO construct from a European defense alliance to a global assault group as a proxy for the American empire.

By signing up to NATO will not offer any change for peace in Europe. The destruction
has been set in motion and no one knows how and when it will end. The Cold War has turned into a hot war for fossil fuel, grain (food) and commodities. Not long ago the "Left" protested against globalization. Under Trump and Biden US policy changed to isolationism and pure national interest ... the European continent will reverse in economic and "military" might. We have no voice in U.S. Congress, so Europeans are much worse off than with an authoritarian EU  Commission in Brussels.

I won't give a nickel for the "alliance" with America nowadays. Trump or equivalent in 2024.

There was a proposed Scandinavian defense union right after world war II, but Norway pulled out to join NATO, which killed the project.
