Simplifying a complex energy situation doesn't help, especially if one doesn't know what one is writing about.
The same goes for your comment on the Economist post where they parrot the gas industry who says they can double German gas production in 18-24 months. Your comment was "stupidity to the nth degree" or something inane. You know nothing about the vast increase in earthquakes in western Niedersachsen, where the fracking has plummeted property values. You know nothing about how increased gas use will not stop germany's use of coal, nor about how it would affect germany's long term climate goals.
But mostly you don't know anything about the german push to accelerate the change to a hydrogen economy, and how capital needs to b e directed in that direction, in order to stave off the worst effects of the climate emergency.
You should be writing about how most countries in northern and western Europe are already steadily accelerating the transition from more than two centuries of fossil fuels poisoning society to the most rapid social experiment ever undertaken, the switch to a hydrogen economy. "Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage." - Anaïs Nin
Never pretended to know the situation in Germany, but trying to understand the economic powers moving the transition. Natural gas was intended to cover a number of years for transition to sustainable energy sources which includes H2. Europe has done much to invest in the infrastructure ... the intervention with sanctions from US Congress is detrimental to all of Europe. The war in Ukraine is the icing on the cake for the US fossil fuel lobby.
Western Ukraine was intended to be a major H2 hub for Europe. Stupidity to the nth degree in EU leadership in Brussels. How to wreck the EU-27 economy and destroy the small bit of social fabric left. The poorest will be hit the hardest by free market capitalism. No more war. ☮️
Thanks for your comment ... miss the input about what moves in Germany as fas as political support and economic might. Too much at stake. 'Sapere aude'
Annalena Baerbock's message to America: She's in sync with Biden | Atlantic Council - May 6, 2021 | In Baerbock's view, the Nord Stream 2 pipeline would violate the spirit of the EU's economic sanctions retaliating against Russian aggression. "This pipeline contradicts our sanctions, so it cannot go in place," she said. "It cannot start." Baaerbock's reasoning on this point isn't just geopolitical. She instead wants to work with Ukraine to set up a hydrogen pipeline. "We need some hydrogen in Europe to be carbon-neutral in the future," she said. "There's a high potential in Ukraine for renewable energy, for wind and solar. We have already this pipeline there to transfer now fossil [fuel] gas. We can set it up for [a] green hydrogen pipeline in the future."
