(For those who did not listen to vdL's ignorant monologue, have never, ever read policy published by either the Foreign Ministry of foreign affairs the People's Republic of China or Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and may be now astounded by the maturity of *-Asian diplomacy and co-operation, having noticed just one CN-RU conference, 20-21 Mar, G7 free press launched a PR campaign characterizing the patently deranged imperialist PUTIN in the ROLE of the Communist Party's "junior partner" despite at least two decades of economic integration and investment in transnational institutions—by which occidental businesses have heretofore silently exploited.)

euronews | China uses Putin's weakness to increase its leverage over [sic] Russia, says Ursula von der Leyen, 30  Mar monomania

The People's Republic of China is exploiting the weakness of President Vladimir Putin to maximise its geopolitical influence over Russia, leading to a reversal [?] of the power balance between the two long-time [!] allies, Ursula von der Leyen has said in a critical speech.

"Far from being put off by the atrocious and illegal invasion of Ukraine, President Xi is maintaining his 'no-limits friendship' with Putin's Russia," von der Leyen said on Thursday morning. "But there has been a change of dynamic in the relationship between China and Russia. It is clear from the visit that China sees Putin's weakness as a way to increase its leverage over [sic] Russia.

Throughout her 40-minute-long speech, the president of the European Commission painted a sober, and at times scorching, picture of the current state of EU-China relations, describing them as "more distant and more difficult," and directly accused Beijing of trumping the free-trade order, bullying small-sized [?!] countries, violating human rights, toughening its military standing[,] and ramping up disinformation and coercion campaigns [read: perpetual enTiTy sanctions?] around the world.

"These escalatory actions point to a China that is becoming more repressive at home and more assertive abroad," von der Leyen said. "China has now turned the page on the era of 'reform and opening' and is moving into a new era of security and control."

The framework is expected to strengthen ASEAN member countries in facing world economic challenges through joint steps as a center of world economic growth.

Efforts to reduce dependence on major currencies through the Local Currency Transaction (LCT) scheme will also be discussed, which is an expansion of the previous Local Currency Settlement (LCS) scheme which has begun to be implemented between ASEAN members.

In the payment system sector, the payment system interconnection implementation that is interconnected between countries through Regional Payment Connectivity (RPC) will continue to be expanded in the context of digitizing cross-border payments. In November 2022, a cooperation deal was signed between Indonesia [ID], Malaysia [MY], Singapore [SG], the Philippines [PH], and Thailand [TH].

Who gets to write the speeches for VDL??

Pelosi, Blinken or Sullivan 😡 ... fortunately Brussels doesn't do FP for the 27, but the separate nations protect their national interests. What the heck is happening in the world post-Covid.

Ahsan Iqbal: Decisions on making "3-new" transition are vital, 29 Mar

On the afternoon of 29 March 2023, Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) held a panel discussion on "New Energy, New Infrastructure, New Industry". Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was one of the panelists to share his views and related experiences.

The minister first emphasized the importance of decisions on making transition to new energy, new industry and new infrastructure (hereinafter referred to as "the 3-new transition"). He then described the damages caused by the severe floods in 2022 to explain how vulnerable Pakistan is when facing climate disasters despite having less than 1% of global carbon emissions. "The gains we made in the last 10 years of development were washed away with the floods," he said.[...]

Ban Ki-moon: Challenges and Importance of Achieving Lasting World Peace and Sustainable Global Development----A Call for Global Partnership and Cooperation, 30 Mar
[...]
Countries are responding. In this country, China, President Xi Jinping has announced two major initiatives, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative. The Security Initiative was launched right here in Boao during our Annual Conference 2022. These two initiatives are broadly in line with the comprehensive & holistic view of the UN on peace & security, and the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. China's commitment to the multilateral approach and global partnership is re-assuring and encouraging indeed.

The Boao Forum for Asia is also contributing in its own way. We are primarily a platform for development, but deeply appreciate the value of preserving peace. We believe that peace and security are prerequisites for achieving sustainable development, whereas sustainable development provides the pathway to peaceful societies. They are interconnected. There is no "decoupling" the two in any way.

it's bleedin' obvious that when Russia idiotically launches a war that it manifestly cannot win, the Chinese leadership roll their eyes and stay polite in public, and that the dynamics of the Chi-Rus relationship has fundamentally shifted.

I see in the list of summit outcomes that China will be offered concessions for the economic development of the Russian far north and far east...
