Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. both cited European abortion limits in their opinions in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization case [opinions]. More recently, South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham Cracker, who has called for a national ban on abortion < wipes tears > after 15 weeks of gestation, told reporters on Capitol Hill that a first-trimester [12 weeks] abortion limit would put the U.S. in line with other peer nations < wipes tears >.archive public property"Forty-seven of 50 European nations have national limits on abortion between 12 and 15 weeks," Graham said in April after former President Donald Trump said he would leave abortion policies to the states. "This is the civilized world's position." But in one of those countries, France, which bars elective abortions after 16 weeks gestational age (14 weeks fetal age < wipes tears > ), the comparison falls flat. For one thing, France holds the distinction of being the only nation that has enshrined the right to an elective abortion in its constitution. And while French law bars elective abortions < wipes tears > after the first trimester, that ban includes SWEEPING EXCEPTIONS, including medical exceptions that IN SOME CASES allow women to access legal abortion through the third trimester [26 weeks]. rollcall | OpEd | Biden is not the candidate Democrats want voters to focus on, 8 July
[...] Yes, Vice President Kamala?! Harris would be the likely Democratic nominee, and she is not without political baggage. But she is not unacceptable to many voters the way an elderly Biden is, and she would bring some assets with her, including her age and potential appeal to core Democratic constituents. Biden's exit from the presidential race wouldn't guarantee anything for his party. Harris could lose. But a Harris-Trump contest would at least give Democrats an opportunity to make 2024 about Trump's weaknesses and flaws. With Biden as the Democratic nominee, that's not possible.

They also said the companies' recruitment and staff insurance records indicated that the women had been asked to take these tests, though in most cases the requests were not part of the officially documented requirements, but given verbally during job interviews. The reason prospective employers gave for the practice and their reluctance to hire pregnant women was the excessively high maternity benefits they would have to pay after the new employee takes maternity leave.pkulaw.cn | Amending the Population and Family Planning Law of the People's Republic of China (2021), 2021[...] Chinese law prohibits employers from including pregnancy tests in pre-employment physical checks, along with other forms of gender discrimination, such as asking female applicants about their marital status or plans to have children. However, according to research last year by the Inspection Squad for Workplace Gender Discrimination watchdog, male applicants still have an advantage over women in some spheres, including government jobs. The research found that out of nearly 40,000 jobs in the national civil service, 10,981 were marked as men-only compared with 7,550 for women.
