An Israeli airstrike in Gaza today killed one of the wives and the infant son of Mohammed Deif, the leader of Hamas's Qassam Brigades military wing. The fate of Deif, who is also said to have helped design the homemade "Qassam rocket" that is one of the primary weapons fired into Israel from Gaza, is unknown.

This letter was written through the eyes of Widad Asfoura to her husband Mohamed Al-Deif, a Qassam Brigades commander. Widad and their infant son Ali were killed in an Israeli attack aimed at assassinating her husband during the latest war on Gaza. The words are in fact written by Hadeel Attallah as told by Widad's mother, Um Ibrahim, and her sister Eman Asfoura. It was published first in Arabic in the newspaper Felesteen.

The true stars do not belong in the sky, but in the tunnels, where the "hidden" stars reside, but there comes a time when they find the light and the people of the world finally see the beauty of their sparkle.
