While House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had COVID in October, making her the hightest-ranking Whit House official to publicly reveal a case. There have been other cases at the White House as well, but the administration does not publicly discuss them.
The 79-year-old first contracted the virus on 21 July, when he was revealed to be experiencing mild symptoms. On Saturday Mr Biden said he was not experiencing symptoms but would isolate "for the safety of everyone around me".
Last summer, the first lady tested positive for Covid-19 while vacationing in South Carolina in August. President Biden tested positive last July. Both experienced rebound cases shortly after being treated with Paxlovid.
This marks the third time in the past two years the president has tested positive for the virus.
