Kamala Harris: Woman of the World | Washington Monthly |

An Indo-American with African-American roots, the Californian can build relations that will strengthen America. Here's how.

This story was originally published on October 24, 2020

California is waiting to be welcomed back into the national conversation after four years of disrespect and neglect from the White House. In a Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration, not only will California's favorite daughter bridge the widened -- and widening -- federal-state divide, she will team with a President Biden to rebuild America's powerful role in the world.

In fact, Harris could be key to building new strategic global relationships and alliances. (Disclosure: My wife and I are Harris' longtime friends.) While Biden shores up NATO, reaffirms multilateral agreements and Zoom calls his close foreign-leader friends, Harris will also bring unique foreign-policy advantage to the table.

As a globally aware Indo-American with African-American roots, her heritage opens up possibilities to grow America's relationships in new corners. Likely receptive nations to future Harris overtures include the ever-important "Quad" partners -- in particular, India.

The tightening Quad partnership is made up of four key Indo-Pacific democracies: the United States, Australia, Japan, and India. They are working together regionally to defend democracy and free markets where China is a persistent and growing threat.

Geez ... years of education to come to this conclusion existence of a two-way street on indoctrination and propaganda. ☹

Spin Wars - FARA & CCTV/CGTN/RT

Kounalakis's 2018 book, "Spin Wars & Spy Games: Global Media and Intelligence Gathering" (Hoover Institution Press) warned open systems and democratic societies that Russian and Chinese global media organizations use their foreign bureaus as both diplomatic outposts and spy nests. Russia Today (RT), China Global Television Network (CGTN), and Xinhua were organizations he suggested be registered under the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). His book provided the data, insights, and policy prescriptions supporting this policy.

$100 bill

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Kounalakis wrote in The Wall Street Journal [Murdoch's rag] that the United States should "Immediately stop circulating and honoring $100 bills in Russia" in order to foment discontent amongst average Russians, who hold the currency as security. His recommendation was also intended to harm international drug cartels.

For all of his tactical military strength, Putin is now operating from a position of strategic weakness. The bitter ironies for him abound. Almost the entire international community stands against him, creating the exact Western unity he has spent two decades trying to undermine. He has reinvigorated--even saved-- NATO,  which just two years ago looked obsolete. We're likely to see permanent U.S. troop deployments in Poland, Romania, and the Baltic states--exactly the outcome Putin says he is trying to prevent. And from the start, Ukraine has put up stiffer resistance than Putin expected, inspiring the world with its plucky David vs. Goliath story.

Even after Putin prevails militarily, forcibly removes Volodymyr Zelensky as president and installs a new puppet in Kyiv (Ukranian-preferred spelling), his problems will be just beginning. Unlike reformers in many former Soviet states, the Ukrainians have experience dispatching puppets, as they did in 2014 during the peaceful [WTF?!!] Maidan Revolution.

These people been reading stories by Anne Applebaum, Radek Sikorski, et al. America doesn't deserve better than Donald Trump and Republican Tea Party delegates to preserve Freedom and Democracy at home. Idiots.

We have rewritten history ... the violent neo-Nazi Maidan Revolt with one hundred citizens sacrificed on the altar of revolt will be honored as heroes of the Revolt of Dignity.
