Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Hell hath no fury like those used to privilege seeing outsiders get in on the act. They immediately become victims and martyrs to outrages that would put centuries of slavery, plunder and genocidal violence to shame. Instead of the respectable and widely read establishment media they are used to inhabiting and feel entitled to, they are reduced to social media and marginal publications. They are no longer paid exhorbatant sums for their "free" speech, which feels like censorship even though no one is stopping them mouthing off in many fora about their many hardships.

They are the beneficiaries of empires and global domination and yet feel no responsibility towards those subjugated to those empires. The Oxbridge Colleges funded by the proceeds of colonial exploitation and slavery are entitled to a clean slate now, and their pronouncements should be treated as authoritative by all and sundry. "The sins of their forebears are visited upon their children onto the third and fourth generations" and they feel very angry about this. How very unfair of the world not to be totally in awe of their genius!

How tiresome of the "wokerati" to keep bringing up historical grievances that are best now forgotten, even if the legacy of discrimination and violence lives on in many families. (The USA -the land of the free - has the largest prison population in the world) How irritating that those not made of "the right stuff" are getting increasing attention and prominence. How awful that "our country" the UK is being challenged and divided by groups with different cultures. How dreadful that the India we plundered and pauperized is now taking over our jobs and our economy.

The USA won the West and two world wars. It invented the internet, social media, e-commerce and AI, and now others are getting into the game. Having done all the hard work for American brands, the east is now using that production expertise to develop brands of their own. What if Europe develops its own social media and shuts out X, Facebook, Google etc al? What if it stops buying US fracked gas and armaments?

It's damned unfair that the US's right to impose governments of their choice on many countries is now being questioned. That Denmark won't just sell Greenland to the USA. That Israel shouldn't be allowed to do what it damn well likes in the Middle East while complaining of antisemitism in the West. That our place at the top of the natural order of things is being challenged by lesser beings and cultures. Karma is a bitch.
