Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

reminder:Toulouse meet up June 17

by Alexandra in WMass Thu Apr 27th, 2006 at 12:30:22 PM EST

The Paris Meet up is on May 20th but you can also go south and come join the Toulouse meet up June 17th. The city of RE-SIS-TANCE.

Where: On the banks of the Garonne near la Daurade
When: Saturday June 17th between 11 and 18h or so
Who:  So far we expect to have Afew, Alex in Toulouse, Alexandra in Wmass and Mr. & Mme Lupin and their dog Maggie. Maybe Jerome as well. So come join us!
Pending questions: How do we recognize each other? Do we need a more specific meeting time?

As Alex a Toulouse explained: "On June 17th it'll be full blown summer, with temperatures around 32 celcius (90 fahrenheit) ... and the banks of the Garonne near la Daurade, for example, have places with grass to lie on, and are invaded by hundreds of people/groups of people with guitars, books, beers, etc"

Welcome back, Alexandra...I was wondering where you went! Hope all is well. (Sorry...can't make it to the Toulouse meet-up...though I'd love to be there...but tapped out...)

Thanks for the kind words. I've been offline caring for elderly relatives and then back online but busy catching up with work deadlines. I've followed a few diaries here and there and added my two cents worth a few times but that's about it. I have a long list of things to add to wiki and some diary ideas but.... This bloging takes time. As I said in one of my first posts here "How do you all do it? Being so prolific I mean."

As for Toulouse I expect it to be a small gathering but figured I'd keep the word out there just to make sure I'm not the only one sitting on the banks of the river that day.

You'll get to Toulouse some other time. Imagine you'll be in Paris at the real BIG ET get together started thanks to your initiative!

Alexandra -- how about we talk about details closer to the date?

I think you said you're coming in by train during the morning. I may be coming in by train too, I'm not sure yet. In which case I'll come in before you and meet you at the station. Or Alex could, since it's his side of town. Then we should set up a meeting-place for others (the station is on one side of the centre, by the Canal du Midi; the picnic spot by the Garonne is on the other side).

At some point convergence will take place. Guaranteed.

Afew, ironing out details closer to the date is fine with me. I could meet at the train station or find my way down to the Garonne. Of course the train station sounds so appropriate to ET. I arrive in Paris on June 1st and will probably be online more sporadically than usual between then and the 17th but I know I'll get to a computer a few times.

Oh BTW do you think maple syrup would trade on the Jam commodities exchange? I know marmite has been unanimously excluded.

If we have maple syrup we'll have to have pancakes, or rather flat Yorkshire puddings as Izzy calls them. But that's not such a bad idea...

But it's up to you to see what you can carry, you're coming from so much further away...
