Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

European-American Blog Competition?

by asdf Thu Apr 6th, 2006 at 10:10:14 PM EST

Here's somebody who needs to be introduced to Eurotrib.

"One of the most popular weblogs in France is called Vingt Sur Vingt, meaning 20 out of 20. The author, Cyrille De Lasteyrie, writes about movies, restaurants or jokes, and then rates them on a scale of 0 to 20.

The blog struck a chord with French readers and was named French blog of the year in 2005. But now, Mr De Lasteyrie has started a new blog aimed at a new audience, Americans."

He talks to Americans about McDonalds and Clint Eastwood?!

Wwhellll...  I think I'll start a revolutionary blog talking to French people about berets and Gerard Depardieu!  Brilliant!

Sorry.  It is one thing to want to reach out to us, another to embrace stereotypes.  He said he wants to avoid "touchy" issues that might hurt French-American relations.  God forbid...

Man, I don't know anyone in this country who "loves" McDonalds!  What is up with this recent slew of Frenchmen (Bernard-Henri Lévy, every "expert" interviewed on NPR about the recent demonstrations ...) who are so eager to kiss up to the very Americans who make fun of them?  Kinda creepy.

But I agree that he should be introduced to ET.

completely along the same line as you, poemless, a famous quote by Victor Hugo : "Posez la plume et allez la ou il y a de la mitraille"

for low-brow commentary on American life!

And as for avoiding "touchy" issues, we also have far too much of that in American media, so merci -- pour rien!

Bonjour America will NOT be going into my Bookmarks folder.
