Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Logomotion

by Alexandra in WMass Wed May 24th, 2006 at 12:37:24 PM EST

Remember the weekend of May 20th? The gnomes in exile. The temporary coup by those of us left behind. The graphless front page full of peanut butter, pancakes and  trains! Under the influence of those images and the lack of wine I proposed that "We could add a little train on the ET logo going around the EU stars as if they were the rails."

So here is my tribute to ET dedicated to Dodo in appreciation for his early ET technical photo posting tips that helped me get started and feel welcome at ET and to ALL of you who make up this rather amazing community.

Keep the train moving!

P.S.: Don't change the logo and do keep the graphs or I'll feel like I logged into the wrong site.
P.P.S: For those of you who remember my long ago promise of a more serious diary rest assured it is still in the works and will probably be too long.

Bravo!  I think they should use it on the front page.  That train just says so much to me, it evokes progress, but not blindly rushing into the future; it's moving to the left, or counter-clockwise, which illustrates our political values and independent thought.  The train ...  the perfect marriage of form and function, of practical mechanics and romantic revery...  So beautiful, without begging for attention, so strong, without relying on aggression, so perfect... :)

But, as true commies, we should complain about the color of the stars :-)

It looks like a big red caterpillar eating up the stars, yummy!

(Peanut butter stars? Star-shaped pancakes? Who can tell?)

Great work that picture. Something else I need to put on my list of 'new things to learn'.

And I am looking forward to you 'too' long diary.

Heh, thanks :-)

I also disclose hereby that I attempted to create a Coup Logo myself, putting a peanut butter bottle in the middle of the stars, but I couldn't figure out how to do it with Gimp...

Counter clockwise independent lefty thinking train, star eating caterpillar and goddess of ET. Just proves that a logo is so much better when there are words to go with it. All great additions!
