Sean Connery: Blair an a**hole making his legacy from graves in Iraq

Sean Connery never seems to lack for honesty.

SEAN Connery has given his most incendiary ever interview on politics, branding Tony Blair an "a***hole" making his legacy from graves in Iraq and suggesting that First Minister Jack McConnell is frustrating democracy in Scotland.
In his first interview since the Holyrood election, Connery also calls on Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander to resign over the voting fiasco, which saw almost 150,000 ballot papers spoiled.
The actor reveals he has been giving post-election advice to SNP leader and likely new First Minister Alex Salmond and suggests he has already become a roving ambassador for Scotland. But on the issue of a return to the land of his birth, Connery remains as enigmatic as ever.
Speaking from his home in the Bahamas, Connery described the conduct of the election as an "embarrassment".

Yes, I am amused that the best Bond ever basically told the British PM to f**k off.

the same thing happened in Quebec on the referendum for independence - a lot of spoiled ballots. Since the "no" side won by 0.1%, those votes could have changed the closeness of the outcome (the spoiled ballots were mostly for the no side)

All very amusing, but Connery is a tax-exile expat who AFAIK doesn't contribute one sous to the scottish economy. He may be a Scottish Nationalist, but in a lazy Scotland-uber-alles vaguely right wing sense than as a committed social contract scot of the SNP mould.

Cheap shots from a political non-entity, about as insightful as a drunk after a night out in Sauchiehall St.

SIR Sean Connery today revealed how much tax he pays to the UK Treasury in a bid to silence critics who hit out at his right to comment on Scottish politics while living abroad.
The James Bond legend has handed over almost £3.7 million in the last six years despite living in the Bahamas.

Hmmm, interesting. It seems an awful lot of people have got the idea he's a tax exile from somewhere. I doubt we all just invented it.

For some reason, I had the idea that he had refused a knighthood because of his Scottish Nationalism, but apparently he sees no contradiction and claims (see his website) his knighthood was "delayed" until 2000 (I must not have been paying attention). Wikipedia has the he-said-she-said on the knighting.
