Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Moving ET - need testers

by Colman Thu May 15th, 2008 at 05:51:58 AM EST

I've got a version of ET running at test.eurotrib.com:81 that could do with some testing before we make it the live site. The database is currently a few days old, but other than that it should work just like the live site.

I'm concerned that the performance is slow, but I'm not certain. Can people poke it a bit and see what they think?

I left a comment on the testsite - is there anything specific you want us to do?

I can't seem to open your "This is the test site" story!

I tried if it matters whether I'm signed in or not - on both occasions I get the "Sorry, I can't seem to find the story" tag.

Works fine. Speed mostly seems fine.

One attempt to open one of the photoblogs took 5s. But it did that exactly once, so it could have been random traffic issues.

I opened a few more photoblogs to check, and they were as fast as the current site.

Loads fine for me.  If there's a difference in speed, I don't notice it.

Seems to be working fine--I posted a diary, wrote some comments, added pics and videos, recommended a diary, no problems

Opened rg's new diary.

The download doesn't seem to be finishing.  After 5 minutes still seeing a "transferring data from s2.ytimg.com ..." message in the lower left cornet.

I'm using Firefox.

Don't see the problem using Explorer.

Something to do with the interfacing between my system, my ISP, and YouTubes.

(Tho' if Colman wants to fix that I won't object.  :)

I'm not seeing the red border someone used to signify new comments in the diary, but I'm not using the latest upgrade (laziness!)  The forward/backwards (CTL-, and CTL-;) seem to work fine.

As I said there, TribExt does some things only for www.eurotrib.com, www.dailykos.com and www.boomantribune.com.

Someone didn't think of adding test.eurotrib.com in her list.
