The Statistical Review is used extensively by OPEC and others in the industry as a key text. This year's review shows coal consumption continuing to soar, especially in China, a 70% year-on-year increase in solar capacity and contains a host of other energy gems.

One (actually several) glaring omission(s) from the Primary table of primary energy consumption by fuel type

In this review, primary energy comprises commercially traded fuels only. Excluded, therefore, are fuels such as wood, peat and animal waste that, though important in many countries, are unreliably documented in terms of consumpion statistics. Also excluded are wind, geothermal and solar power generation.
