Mrs. Lupin's new cookbook, aptly entitled "Les Petites Recettes d'une Américaine dans l'Aude," has just come out -- with 22 American recipes adapted to local French ingredients and 27 color photos.

In French! This is squarely aimed at the natives! :-) Exporting US recipes to France is a bit like coal to Newscastle etc. but we like tilting at windmills.

This is wonderful.  I find myself reading the list of recipes and trying to figure out what the English (American) translation would be.  So far, I'm good on "Sloppy Joes"

Congratulations. Which type of cornbread is she basing the recipe on, the cake-like stuff you find on the West Coast, or the coarser Southern cornbread (or both, hey, regional variation is always neat)?

The answer is, the West Coast type, such as one used to find at, say, Marie Callendar.
