We're scheduled to arrive at Paris East around 8 in the morning, with the TGV from Metz. According to the schedule DB gave me, I can be in Chatelet or Paris Nord around half an hour after that.

Alas, I won't be able to attend.  Got slammed by added workload in the last couple weeks as we got into crunch time for our survey cycle, so that should keep me extremely busy until the end of October.

Maybe next time. :\

They've just put up some scaffolding against the building (to repair the damage from last year's fire) - so our table will be in the inside courtyard. It's nice and quiet, but we'll be less visible from the street - you need to get inside the restaurant and go through it to the back. I'll see if a sign can be put up...

I've just noticed that where I want to go is about the same distance from the station St Ouen l'Aumone Liesse. This is on the C1 line which, conveniently, goes from Kennedy/Radio france which is just up from the hotel. So it'll save me the hop across town (and two metro tickets)

That won't save you metro tickets as the metro trips are included in the train ticket. Also, the C1 line is slow and even less reliable than the A line...

You should be able to plan your journey on the Transilien web site.

Their route planner page is an interesting mix of English and French, even in he English version, but it should do the work. You can even enter the street address you're going to and it will suggest possible routes.

The "Tickets and fares" page will give you the ticket price between any start/destination stations. A quick check shows one-way ticket from any station in Paris (a single zone tariff-wise) to either Neuvile Université or St Ouen l'Aumone Liesse or even Eragny Neuville (train from Gare du Nord) at 5.05 EUR.

I use this route planner often, actually, since it is very convenient even inside Paris. Hope this helps.

We can have lunch near the Louvres if that's where you're heading for the afternoon. Plenty of Japanese restaurants, although that might not be what you're aiming for :)

Ditto Frank.  The Crazy Horse will not be attending this year's meetup.

Having just lost a consulting job due to something i blogged several years ago in the run-up to Iraq escalation, for a case i cared about where Mitsubishi was challenging GE's variable speed patents, i am not able to associate with bloggers anymore.  (That's a joke, that's a joke, but how did those shit lawyers find that thing?)

for comparison, i also will not be in Stockholm next week for the EWEA offshore wind meetup.  And to squelch the tin hat brigade, i am also not in Regensburg Germany for the Group games of the Baseball World Cup this weekend.  (opening game Deutschland 14 China 1.  Now we have to go up against USA and Venezuela!  Talk about mountain climbing.)

Goes without saying i wish you all a time of joy and wonder.

That was a joke for the opposing lawyers, i will never leave ET, for all that i learn, for the breadth of political, economic and social vision i gain here.

(and for the anonymity hah!)

That you all know how sad i am not to be there is important.  I spend a fair amount of time here, and it's due to the quality of the community and its insights.

(It's worse not being at the Baseball World Cup.)  (No, that's a joke) (No, that's a joke.)  (I wanted to support my teammates and the rest of Deutschland against the USA profis.  Asi es la vida.)  But i will try to make significant steps in readying the new Wohnung.
