Here's Geezer, BBQ-Meister, on Sunday evening:

So there we were, a few days ago, the Man from Lyon and I, enjoying a stroll in the town to watch the annual Dance Parade which the good people of the Ville prepare for a year.

Louis the Fourteenth was waiting for us...

But thanks to a delicious brunchy kind of breakfast we got to the main square a little late.

But we caught a glimpse of strange harbingers of the evening to come.

Eurogreen meanwhile was charging his phone battery, so we didn't meet up with him and his bike until we got to the old town. Meanwhile my guide, host and bon ami waxed lyrically and very interestingly on the history of Lyon and silkworms and mulberry bushes.

Eurogreen caught up with us outside the church on the 'Hill that Prays' and we settled down for beers (yes Helen, I drank another beer) and Jameson chasers. Thus ensued a typical ET conversation that ranged over the gamay vine, the reasons why Parisians drink Beaujolais, the history of the Left since the Sixties, green issues, happiness, assembling earthmovers in Mauritania and...it all was making sense.

Then - suddenly....

Our narrow alleyway was filled with a spontaneous extra parade. The Man from L and Eurogreen can be seen at the end. Discussions continued late into the night in an old silk loom house, now a restaurant that doesn't let you choose what to eat. Wonderful food. I was stuffed. Then the penultimate tram back home.

The CH seems to be leaving his i'm-not-jealous y behind. Enough to say how pleased to see such fine shots of such good comrades. Thank you all for taking and posting your pix.

Rest assured, i haven't forgotten to plan a meet in Bremen, if i can get the lifeboat to shore. I've already a few decent ideas, though i fear we're not in Lyon's class.

methinks it will cost some money for the participants, assuming they have interest in chartering a bus, to go see some offshore wind type stuff. you know, concrete and steel type Kunst.

Perhaps we could get permission to tour the largest, oldest Wein Keller in Yurp, which resides under, well, i shouldn't say.

We could also walk around the Weserstadion, where the footballers play surrounded even on the north side with photovoltaics. (Don't ask me why, perhaps utilities still think renewables are more for marketing.)

Of course, those of you who would fly in would have to take a chance at the airport, what with it being ringed by wind turbines for a decade, and you know the havoc they reek on radars... though Bremen is a center of German aviation since planes could fly. You might even get a chance to see the airport museum to flight if your plane makes it through the windmills, or doesn't get hit by that giant military whale Airbus thing that manages to "touch" down every morning.

There's a hostel we could book, and a BnB tower on the Weser for the overlords.

Ah well, just thinking aloud. Back to the oars.

Thanks for the pics...it was quite depressing being off work last week and constantly thinking about the fact that we 'should' have been in Paris that weekend.
Looks like a good time was had by all and the old haunts were revisited.
Ah well...maybe next year :)
