Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

The Great Eskate

by In Wales Sun May 3rd, 2015 at 06:22:04 AM EST

Two friends of mine are doing a sponsored rollerskate across the Netherlands starting on May 21st and are looking out for supporters along the way and potentially people with a spare bed/sofa to sleep on too.

Theirs is a great story of adventure and human spirit.

The two adventurers are both climbers, Emily having set up a website, Women Climb to encourage women of all ages and backgrounds into climbing.  Emma has run across Africa twice raising money for charity.

Their next adventure is to rollerskate across the Netherlands, despite neither of them knowing how to rollerskate (they are learning at the moment).  They are also aiming to do this as cheaply as possible but to make the most being in a new country, hopefully meeting some great new people and seeing fantastic places along the way. They will also be raising money for the Women's Sport Trust and Tree Aid.

Although the first though might be "what the hell are they doing?" I can't help but admire that attitude of where there's a will, there's a way and to just go on an adventure for the hell of it. Life is short and there is so much to do and see.

Hopefully, they can also inspire other women to get involved with sport and physical activity and to show that there are opportunities out there for women from all backgrounds to get involved.

It would be fantastic if anyone can help to share the information below in case anyone is able to support them along the way.  The contact details are on the website.

Here's their itinerary:
