Netanyahu to make 'significant' announcement on Iran

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver a speech at 8pm (local time) on Monday evening on a "significant development regarding the nuclear agreement with Iran," according to the Prime Minister's Office.

No more details were given of the announcement, which will be made from the Kiryah military headquarters in Tel Aviv, according to a brief statement from Netanyahu's office.

Netanyahu spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump over the weekend about Iran, according to the White House.

A statement on Sunday said: "The two leaders discussed the continuing threats and challenges facing the Middle East region, especially the problems posed by the Iranian regime's destabilizing activities."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will make a televised announcement Monday evening in what his office said would disclose "dramatic news" regarding the nuclear agreement with Iran.

In a corresponding move, Netanyahu cancelled a scheduled speech at the Knesset in honor of Theodore Herzl day. Channel 10 reports Meir Ben Shabbat, head of the National Security Council, will hold phone calls with colleagues in the UK and France to update them about developments with the Iranian nuclear program.

The announcement will be made from Israel's military headquarters in Tel Aviv, according to a brief statement from Netanyahu's office.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif disparaged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "the boy who can't stop crying wolf" in a Twitter post, ahead of the Israeli leader's speech.

Saudi Arabia eyes better Iran deal amid Pompeo visit | Gulf News |

New US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reassured Saudi Arabia that the United States would abandon the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, reached under President Donald Trump's predecessor Barack Obama, unless there is an agreement in talks with European partners to improve it to make sure the Islamic Republic never possesses a nuclear weapons.

"Iran destabilises this entire region," Pompeo said in a joint press conference with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir.

"It supports proxy militias and terrorist groups. It is an arms dealer to Al Houthi rebels in Yemen. It supports the murderous Al Assad regime (in Syria) as well."

Israel: Benjamin Netanyahu accuses Iran of hiding nuclear weapons activity | DW |

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented on Monday what he claimed was proof that Iran had broken the terms of the nuclear deal signed in 2015 with major world powers.

Netanyahu said he was prepared to share the "incriminating" files on Iran's nuclear weapons program, "Project Amad." He said Israel recently uncovered 55,000 documents and 183 CDs from Iran's "nuclear archives."

US President Donald Trump said he watched the presentation. Describing it as "good" Trump said the televised statement and other recent events showed that he, Trump, had been "100 percent right" about Iran.

IAEA and Iran - IAEA Reports

IAEA Report: Final Assessment on Past and Present Outstanding Issues regarding Iran's Nuclear Programme

Information available to the  Agency prior to November 2011 indicated that Iran  had  arranged, via  a  number  of  different  and  evolving  management  structures,  for  activities  to  be  undertaken  in support of a possible military dimension to its nuclear programme. According to this information, the organisational structures covered most of the areas of activity relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive  device.

The information  indicated that activities  commenced  in the  late  1980s within Departments  of  the Physics  Research Centre  (PHRC) and  later, under  the  leadership  of  Mohsen Fakhrizadeh,  became  focused  in  the  early  2000s  within projects  in  the  AMAD  Plan,  allegedly managed  through  the 'Orchid  Office'.  Information  indicated that  activities  under  the  AMAD  Plan were brought to a halt in late 2003 and that the work was fully recorded, equipment and work places were  either cleaned or disposed of so  that there  would be  little  to identify the  sensitive  nature  of the work  that  had  been  undertaken.

Eventually, according  to  the  information, a  new  organization  known as the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research was established by Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and based at the Mojdeh Site near Malek Ashtar University in Tehran.

Israeli PM Netanyahu playing baseless childish game: Araqchi

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is playing a baseless childish, naive game.

"What we saw from Netanyahu was nothing but a childish and ridiculous show," Araqchi told Press TV on Monday, adding that it was also a repeat of Netanyahu's speeches in the past.

Earlier in the day Netanyahu delivered a televised address in which he accused Iran of violating the JCPOA. "That is just not an acceptable situation. They're not sitting back idly. They're setting off missiles, which they say are for television purposes. I don't think so," he said.

Netanyahu also alleged that Iran had intensified its efforts to hide its "secret files" and that it took them to a highly secret location in Tehran.

Araqchi added that such allegations against Tehran have already been proven wrong by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

If it's attention he wants, Anglo-merican press should have tossed more swag and laurels into the weekend bonfire.

According to local sources, all these positions were belonging to Iranian-backed armed groups and the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Different sources say that 26-46 members of Iranian-backed forces and even Iranian servicemembers were killed in the attacks. The Iranian media rejects reports about casuatlies about Iranian personnel deployed in the country.
On April 30 morning, the pro-Hezbollah Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen reported citing a commander in Liwa Fatemiyoun (an Iranian-backed group operating in Syria) that no missiles had hit Liwa Fatemiyoun positions near Aleppo Airport.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) rejected to confirm that the Israeli military had been behind the last night missile strikes. This is a common media approach by the Israeli military.

Great ... unsurprisingly Bibi Netanyahu got two quick supporters for telling the "truth" about Iran and its nuclear goals: CIA's Pompeo and POTUS. Surely Bibi will soon be invited by the Republican Congress to celebrate tearing up the JCPOA, Obama's main achievement in foreign policy - 8 years of abject failures in the Middle East. Hundreds of thousands murdred and millions displace to the region and crossing into Europe on a life saving mission.

Experts say no new information in Netanyahu's Iran presentation | Ynet News |

Former National Security Advisor Prof. Uzi Arad says the prime minister failed to present a 'smoking gun' exposing a current violation of the nuclear agreement with Iran; former Mossad official Gad Shimron slams Netanyahu for presenting information on prime-time television, possibly endangering Mossad agents' lives, instead of sharing it directly with US President Trump.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's press conference Monday has become the talk of the town among former Mossad officials and Israeli experts on Iran. Most of them were impressed by the intelligence achievement, but less by what it contained.

In fact, some of them say that while Netanyahu's performance was perfect, it lacked one thing: Proof of a current violation of the nuclear agreement by Iran.

After praising the Mossad people, Shimron went on to harshly criticize the prime minister and "the very unsuccessful use of the information by a politician disguised as a salesman or a salesman disguised as a politician.

"It's a disgrace to present this information on prime-time television," Shimron added. "There's no way of knowing which Mossad agent he endangered by doing that. If you have information, you must share it with your allies, and even then you must do a thousand tricks to avoid exposing the source."

Shimron said he had discussed the issue Monday night with former Mossad colleagues. "They were shocked by the aberrant use of this information. If Netanyahu wanted (US President Donald) Trump to see this information, he could have shared it with him through the acceptable channels."
