AG Barr On Foreign Tour Soliciting Intelligence

A never ending tale of Red vs Blue ...

William Barr's 4-country effort to discredit the Trump-Russia inquiry, explained | Vox |

News reports this week have clarified that Attorney General William Barr's promised investigation into the origins of the FBI investigation of links between Russia and the Trump campaign is very real, and has involved high-level talks and meetings with the governments of four countries -- Ukraine, Italy, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

That's a motley assortment of nations whose links and relevance may not be obvious to someone who gets their news from mainstream sources.

The four countries link together as part of a counternarrative popular on the right that holds that the real scandal of the Trump-Russia affair is not anything Trump (or the Russians) did but a "deep state" plot by intelligence agencies to swing the election against Hillary Clinton.

Taking the narrative, add a lot of falsehoods and one creates multiple-conspiracies for news headlines and plenty of content.

More below the fold ...

Who is prof. Mifsud?

Affording to the official narrative of events, the FBI's Trump-Russia inquiry began when an intoxicated George Papadopoulos told Australia's ambassador to the UK that he'd been approached by a mysterious professor who claimed to be acting on behalf of the Russian government and would be able to provide the Trump campaign with "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.

That professor turns out to be Joseph Mifsud.

In his telling, rather than being a liar whose dishonesty impeded a legitimate counterintelligence investigation, he's a patsy. Mifsud was never a Russian agent at all, but rather an Italian asset sent to entrap Papadopoulos as a favor to Obama-era CIA Director John Brennan. Papadopoulos made this most explicit when the government of Italy shook up its intelligence services. He described it at the time as a "flip," and suggested the Russia-friendly right-wing populist government of Italy would shortly reveal the truth.

Have I posted this once? I did.

28 U.S. Code CHAPTER 31-- THE ATTORNEY GENERAL . This is the establishing law of the office and department. Cornell Law School's digital repository of US statute has a helpful "scoping language" feature which defines legal terms of art. o. my.

28 U.S. Code § 501 : The Department of Justice is an executive department of the United States at the seat of Government.
The rhetorical antagonism of Democratic Party functionaries have recently led peoples of the US to believe that the AG and subdivisions of the department are "independent," that this POTUS has abused powers of the office. This characterization of the authorities of the department and AG is false.

28 USC § 509, functions of the AG, provides the AG a National Security Division and Assistant Attorney General for National Security. § 511, 512, 513 authorize Attorney General to advise in particular the president, cabinet, and secretaries of military departments. § 517. Interests of United States in pending suits provides broad latitude to the AG's activities in case or controversy, domestic and foreign.

Mr Mueller opened many cases which are not concluded.

As I stated, the battle of Red vs. Blue is a continuing story ... the Democrats had to act as the deep-state under Blue leadership of Obama-Biden-Brennan was about to blow its cover under pressure and intrusion by AG William Barr and CIA Maquire.

The Clinton campaign and Democrats profited from the US Intelligence community ahead of the 2016 election. After three years Trump and the Republicans have managed to switch colour of the Administration and Institutions in Washington DC.

Did MI6/CIA Collude with Chris Steele to Entrap Trump? by Oui @BooMan on July 11, 2017

Spooks should serve at the pleasure of the U.S. President and should not be running Foreign Policy, run military operations across the globe or a drone assassination program. What guarantees are there that the media and the blog community are following the leads leaked by the IC for some nefarious machinations to unseat the elected president.

I have been quite uncomfortable to read who I should believe and who I shouldn't.

In my lifetime I have learned that much, anything coming out of the mouth of an intelligence spook to just not believe. Intelligence `evidence' should be vetted by the President, his National Security Council, U.S. Congress and where applicable, by the judiciary.

As soon as Donald Trump became the leading Republican candidate in the primaries, the political world went topsy turvy and everything turned upside down. Republican dirty dossiers were handed over to Democrats to stop Trump and foreign intelligence outfits were hired for dirty campaign tricks. Add a lot of misinformation, lies, fake news and social media accounts and one gets a mud fight instead of politics run on issues concerning the electorate.

Even a tiny nation like the Netherlands has played a crucial role in cyberwarfare against Russia and Iran. On military support, the Dutch joined the coalition to fight "terror" in Iraq, Afghanistan, Mali and Syria. The refugee crisis across Europe as a blow-back.

This morning Sen. Menendez demands US secretary of state 'immediate' recusal [?] over Ukraine probe of what precisely --legitimate functions of the state department and its executive compared with non-governmental business between US and Ukraine nationals--remains to be ahh critiqued by colleagues in the legislature. Menedez's indignation is ironic (2015) yet reasonable in light of mistrail ending prosecution of his "corruption" of office within the US.

The establishing legislation for office of US attorney general is pretty clear cut, subordinate only to POTUS on matters "national security". By comparison, the legitimacy of the FBI, conferred by the congress, is decidedly obscure and disjunctive. Invidious manufacture of "special counsels" since 1968 are political instruments of limited interest to any one session, for example.

I just started a "serious" search through U.S.C. this morning after reading through the FBI's own origin stories for citations to U.S.C.
"Birth of the Federal Bureau of Investigation";
"A Brief History" anchored to T. Roosevelt and C. Bonaparte at apex "China trade" and union-busting; and
"Directors, Then and Now"

Under the Omnibus Crime Control Act and Safe Streets Act of 1968, Public Law 90-3351, the Director is appointed by the U.S. President and confirmed by the Senate. On October 15, 1976, in reaction to the extraordinary 48-year term of J. Edgar Hoover, Congress passed Public Law 94-503, limiting the FBI Director to a single term of no longer than 10 years.
Public Law 90-3351 is where the legitimization of the POTUS heretofore ahh lawful secret service goes pear-shape. Having commissioned bureau "services" to investigate JFK's assassination and destroy domestic "extremist" rioting, FBI "accountability" has been reconstituted as different dead-end public laws under various U.S.C. chapters.

Behold, for example, 34 U.S. Code § 10101 (Establishment of Office of Justice Programs) which complements 28 U.S. Code CHAPTER 33-- FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION . It is not immediately obvious to me yet which statutes authorize FBI investigation or police of foreign territories. However, FBI range into Iraq under color of the CPA may have left some tracks for the "inquiry" committees to follow.

I suppose, now is not a good time for the "inquiry" committees to PROBE lawful and unlawful Five Eyes intelligence cooperation.
