Started as a response to a new member here @EuroTrib ... StillInTheWilderness
Nowadays I try te leave US politics and focus on the effect of its foreign policy on Europe, the Middle East and all other continents. Hopefully here @EuroTrib we can focus on the most urgent issues at hand for planet Earth - Gaia - and its living creatures.

Today I read an artikel about the US Ambassador to Germany ... why doesn't he get the boot from Berlin?
More below the fold ...
○ US envoy to Germany Richard Grenell | DW |
Speaking to Bild, Grenell reiterated that German companies active in Iran risked falling foul of US sanctions. "You can do business in Iran all you want, but we get to have a policy," he said. "If you do this, we're not comfortable having you come into our country."
The ambassador also said Germany had learned the wrong lesson of "we don't like war, we'll stay out" from its experience in World War II.
"That saddens me, because I think that the lessons of World War II should be that the Germans are the first to recognize a madman gassing children in Syria," he said, referring to Germany's reluctance to take military action against President Bashar al-Assad in 2018.
Grenell has repeatedly been criticized by German lawmakers and commentators for his confrontational style and vocal support for Trump's "America First" foreign policy.
All of this written on a day in memory of the first step in the Founding of a United Europe which has assured 75 years of peace on the continent. The ugly century of genocides left behind ... with a number of exceptions across the globe. However, no Third World War ... we must fight to keep it that way. To create a new image of an "enemy" is not what Europe is about ... we have left the Cold War rhetoric behind us. Someone please silence the warmongering coming out of Washington DC - John Bolton - Mike Pompeo - Trump - U.S. Congress.
