Previous diary — Humanity Is In A Climate Emergency
Even today the War in Ukraine plays into the hands $$$ of coal and fossil fuel lobby in US Congress and across the Conservative Think Tanks of the US and Western Europe. SHAME! As one of the pioneers to combat the fossil fuel lobby exclaimed in the documentary: "No it's not disappointment, I'm very angry. Those who pushed the false narrative of denial are on the level of war criminals, crimes against humanity and the biotope of our planet.

Big Oil v the World
Key role in Washington DC promoting this ugly narrative was Chuck Hagel of Nebraska ... to be fair to bipartisanship and Republicans, Barack Obama appointed Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense ... to protect National Security of the Republic and based the oath to the US Constitution of founding father George Washington. They LIED!!

The audacious PR plot that seeded doubt about climate change | BBC News |
Thirty years ago, a bold plan was cooked up to spread doubt and persuade the public that climate change was not a problem. The little-known meeting - between some of America's biggest industrial players and a PR genius - forged a devastatingly successful strategy that endured for years, and the consequences of which are all around us.
On an early autumn day in 1992, E Bruce Harrison, a man widely acknowledged as the father of environmental PR, stood up in a room full of business leaders and delivered a pitch like no other.
At stake was a contract worth half a million dollars a year - about £850,000 in today's money. The prospective client, the Global Climate Coalition (GCC) - which represented the oil, coal, auto, utilities, steel, and rail industries - was looking for a communications partner to change the narrative on climate change.
Don Rheem and Terry Yosie, two of Harrison's team present that day, are sharing their stories for the first time.
"Everybody wanted to get the Global Climate Coalition account," says Rheem, "and there I was, smack in the middle of it."
When Ford left in 1999, a Ford spokesman noted their reasoning for leaving: "Over the course of time, membership in the Global Climate Coalition has become something of an impediment for Ford Motor Company to achieving our environmental objectives."
According to Sourcewatch, members of GCC made more than $63 million in contributions to politicians from 1989-1999. This doesn't include separate campaigns organized by members of GCC at the time like the National Coal Association and American Petroleum Institute which also paid significant funds on the global warming issue.

Shale Gas, Fracking and Leaking Methane
Thus, after the blitzkrieg of fossil fuel salesman Joe Biden across Europe, the War in Ukraine could ensue and the US will sell more than sufficient LNG from fracking deposits in North America. This is hell on earth.

The fossil-fuel multinationals fund `thinktanks' and `research institutes'. But it's gullible public service broadcasters that give them credibility.
Climate change: Green energy 'stagnates' as fossil fuels dominate | BBC News - June 15, 2022 |
A new study says that the world is using more fossil fuels than ever as the transition to green energy stalls. The Renewables 2022 Global Status Report says the share of wind and solar in the global energy mix has risen minimally in the last decade.
While renewables boomed in the electricity sector last year, they didn't meet the overall rise in demand. In transport, which accounts for a third of energy, renewables provided less than 4%.
The current situation in Ukraine has exacerbated this trend, according to the authors.

End Game for Greece? | June 28, 2015 |
Yanis Varoufakis has an article in today's Irish Times in which he laments the failure of the Eurogroup to listen to his proposals even whilst they themselves have been kept in the dark about what "the Institutions" are proposing. Apparently no substantive discussions took place on what either "the Institutions" or Greece were suggesting as the way forward. A majority of the Eurogroup Ministers appear to have decided, in advance, that Varoufakis is not someone they can "do business with."

Frank Schnittger: You had FDR and even Eisenhauer was better than current Republicans. The sad fact is that culturally and politically, the USA has been in decline since the 1960s. I blame Vietnam, racism, followed by Iraq, citizens United and the worship of money above all else, but we all have our own demonology...
Melvin: Reagan was a progressive in comparison to this crop.
Frank Schnittger: Yes but he turned the tide. Carter was still a human being for all his faults. From Reagan onwards with was big business which was in charge - regardless of whether it was Republicans or Democrats in power - it was just different sectors of big business who were in control (Big Oil vs. Wall street etc.)
