War, Next Level of Criminality

by Oui Sun Aug 21st, 2022 at 09:22:37 AM EST

War is dehumanizing, propaganda is a tool and part of dehumanizing a people by which any act in war will be accepted by the other side. A moral compass is way beyond what the the real world possesses. Sliding further down ...

Unfortunately, after the dropping of two atom bombs on Japan by president Truman of the US in August 1945, the world has seen too many wars which have been useless and mostly worsened hardship of the countries involved.

Need the world a reminder of the Iraq-Iran war where dictator Saddam Hussein received full backing of the powers of America. CIA intelligence reports of Iranian defenses for targeting of Iraqi missiles, some loaded with lethal chemicals.

After trench warfare in Northern France in the war of 1914-1918, mosterd gas was used and dispersed by the German forces. Graveyards as far as one can view is the local landscape in the Somme area.

The genocidal massacres of Cambodia and the Rwandan people in 1994 ... everlasting evidence of cruelty perpetrated by men. Starting a war makes you responsible for all war crimes that follow. Wars have become more cruel, not less than at the time of Napoleon at Waterloo.

Precursors for chemical warfare sourced from Western allies of NATO countries ...

An Economic `Siege' of the Islamic State of Iran | May 21, 2018 |

Persons at the U.S. State Department have always sought revenge for lives lost during the Lebanon Wars between Sunni, Shia proxy groups in conjunction with Israel. Many American citizens were taken hostage for ransom in Beirut and the greatest loss of American lives was the Beirut Marine baracks bombing during the Reagan administration.

The US retaliated by supporting Saddam Hussein during the Iraq-Iran war and turning a blind eye when massive use of chemical warfare was used. During this war Iran lost a million lives on the battle field. Iraq used US satellite intelligence to pinpoint it's destructive arsenal of weapons.

By shredding the JCPOA nuclear deal, the USA has lost all of its credibility across vast regions of the globe.

Seeking answers for Iran's chemical weapons victims--before time runs out

Three decades after Iraq unleashed chemical weapons on Iran, scientists there are unraveling the long-term effects

After the war, Iraq--pressured to own up to the attacks--acknowledged that it had "consumed" 1800 tons of mustard, 600 tons of sarin, and 140 tons of tabun. All told, according to Iran's Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs (FMVA), the chemical onslaught killed nearly 5000 Iranians and sickened more than 100,000.

That doesn't include Iraqi victims: In March 1988, Iraq's forces attacked its own citizens with mustard and nerve agents in Halabja, killing as many as 5000 and wounding 7000.

Sulfur mustard, a family of compounds first used in World War I, left the deepest and most visible scars on survivors of the war. Three decades later, about 56,000 Iranians are coping with lingering health effects from the blistering agent, ranging from skin lesions and failing corneas to chronic obstructive lung disease and possibly cancer, says Tooba Ghazanfari, an immunologist at Shahed University here.

Earliest reports from Ukraine and Bloomberg headline Aleksadr Dugin was murdered ...

In the suburbs of Moscow, Dugin's car, in which his daughter might have been, exploded - mass media

Around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, a car belonging to the head of the "International Eurasian Movement", one of the main ideologues of racism and the armed invasion of Ukraine, Oleksandr Dugin, exploded and burned on the outskirts of Moscow (RF)

According to still unconfirmed data, Daria Oleksandrivna Dugina (Platonova), who is also known for her active public activity in support of Putin's regime and the destruction of Ukrainians, was in it. Dugina called herself a philosopher and journalist, gave lectures. The Russian news telegram channels Baza and 112 were the first to report what might have happened to her around 24:00.

"A Land Cruiser Prado car was blown up near the village of Velyki Vyazemy. As a result, the owner of the car died on the spot," Baza said.

Could just as easily been a Russian operation as also Kremlin has its dissidents and citizens against the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦.

Russian media are reporting that a car exploded in Moscow oblast; allegedly, Darya Dugina, Alexander Dugin's daughter, was driving and that she died on the spot. No official confirmation at this point, also no information on the cause of the explosion.

RED LINES AND DECISION-MAKING CENTERS: THE RUSSIAN RESPONSE TO THE DEATH OF DARYA DUGINA

Russian people mourn the death of a journalist, daughter of the philosopher Alexander Dugin Darya. Along with condolences to the father, they call to cross out the red lines and respond to Kyiv with strikes on decision-making centers.

Senator Andrei Klishas was one of the first to react to the death of Daria Dugina. He brought Alexander Dugin his deepest condolences and stated that the terrorists who killed his daughter must be destroyed.

Military correspondent Semyon Pegov notes that the death of Daria Dugina was a planned action by the SBU. This is not a psychopath who was just lucky, but a long and systematic work. Perhaps the attack happened not without the help of "their man" in our own security system.

Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin calls for national unity and notes that we should not forget about the death of Darya Dugina.

[Update-1]

LATEST NEWS: At the last moment Aleksandr Dugin switched cars. Preliminary info suggests it was a contract killing, explosive device attached under car.

Dugina was a political commentator and daughter of the veteran Russian philosopher, known for his staunch anti-Western and ‘neo-Eurasian’ views.

...

Western media has painted Dugin as a driving force behind President Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy over the past decade.

In Russia, the supposed shadowy puppet master is largely considered to be a marginal figure. While he has served as an adviser to several politicians, Dugin never enjoyed official endorsement from the Kremlin.

The US think tank RAND Corporation wrote in 2017 that despite Western media reports of Dugin’s alleged “ties and connections” to the Russian leadership, he is “perhaps best thought of as an extremist provocateur with some limited and peripheral impact than as an influential analyst with a direct impact on policy.”

The Occult, Russian Nationalism to Geopolitics

Prokhanov’s interest in the occult began in the 1970s when as a young man he was introduced to the circle of writer Yuri Mamleev, a far-right nationalist and a founder of the “metaphysical realism” movement in Russian literature. Another member of the Mamleev club was Alexander Dugin, the son of a Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) general. Over the years, Dugin became a widely cited, influential Russian far-right ideologist and an author of dozens of books with subjects ranging from geopolitics, to Russian nationalism, to sorcery. His 1997 bestseller “The Foundations of Geopolitics” is claimed to have had a strong influence on the Russian foreign policy establishment. Some even say it is being used as a textbook at the Academy of the General Staff of the Russian military.

The book also drew attention in the West with its list of priorities for the Russian security services to be attained through a program of destabilization and disinformation. Among what Dugin sees as Russia’s first concerns is separating the UK from Europe, “absorbing” Finland, annexing Ukraine, and “dismantling” China.

But we only have so much political capital. And we - Europe, that is - decided to squander it making Instant Capitalism(TM) and pissing on Russian dignity in the early ninties. That was as blind as it was stupid, and now the political chickens are coming home to roost. Pressing the issue when you are clearly in the wrong means that you'll be less able to press the issue when you are clearly (or not so clearly) in the right. Right now we are paying the price for our high-handedness 15 years ago and and quite frankly we have nobody and nothing to blame for that but ourselves and our own stupidity and arrogance.

I want Europe to be a responsible great power on the global stage, not a power-drunk empire that petulantly strikes out against anyone who doesn't dance to our tune. The world has entirely too many of those as it is. And part of being a responsible player on the global stage is acknowledging when you've fucked up and acknowledging that fuck-ups come with a political cost.

The truly galling part of it was that most progressives knew that Instant Capitalism(TM) and Shock Therapy were Bad Ideas. In that sense, it's not our fault, and it's eminently unfair that we have to see the fight for progressive ideals hamstrung because a gang of far-right ideologues decided to use Russia as a sandbox for those policies that were too manifestly insane for even the American public to swallow. In fact, it's desperately, wretchedly unfair. But life isn't fair, and we can't let the madmen run the asylum for a decade and then expect everyone else to forgive and forget and not hold us accountable for the actions our countries took during that period.

This type of missile, launched from a warship or submarine, is designed to carry a payload of 166 cluster submunitions (bomblets) which each explode into over 200 sharp steel fragments that can cause injuries up to 150m away. An incendiary material inside the bomblet also spreads fragments of burning zirconium designed to set fire to nearby flammable objects.

The killings were part of a broader program of "targeted killing" by the United States outside the context of armed conflict and based on vague legal standards, a closed executive process, and evidence never presented to the courts.

    The Death of Dugina

The life story of Darya Dugina, Dugin's only daughter from his second marriage (to philosophy professor Natalia Melentieva), has some mysteries of its own. Meduza, the Russian news site in exile, reports reports that until a few years ago Dugina, who graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in philosophy in 2014 and then got the equivalent of a master's degree with a thesis on Plato, apparently kept a distance from her father's views. "Her father had no influence on her whatsoever," a male friend who preferred to remain anonymous told the site. A female college friend, Viktoria Skuibedina, said that she may have even tried to "run away from home."

Perpetrator of Darya Dugina's murder to be put on wanted list for extradition to Russia | Tass |

It is noted that the Ukrainian citizen Natalia Vovk escaped to Estonia after committing the murder of Darya Dugina

Ukrainian citizen Natalia Vovk, identified as the perpetrator of the murder of Russian political scientist and journalist Darya Dugina in the Moscow Region, will be put on the wanted list and her extradition to Russia demanded, a source in the law enforcement has told TASS.

"Ukrainian citizen Natalia Vovk, who escaped to Estonia after committing the murder of Darya Dugina, will be put on the wanted list and her extradition demanded," the official said.

On the evening of August 20, an explosive device went off in a Toyota Land Cruiser car on a road near the village of Bolshiye Vyazyomy, the Moscow Region. The car caught fire. As it was found out later, the explosive device had been planted under the vehicle's floor on the driver's side.

Dugina, who was driving the car, died on the spot. Criminal proceedings have been launched on murder charges (paragraph E of part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code's article 105). It will be investigated by the central office of Russia's Investigative Committee.

On Monday, the federal security service FSB told TASS that Dugina's murder had been solved. According to the FSB, it had been plotted by the Ukrainian secret services.

Ukraine Azov Group Link to Assassination Dugina

Ukraine - Dugina Killer Identified - War of Attrition Continues

The killer, one Natalya Vovk, is associated with the Azov Nazis of Ukraine. So is her brother. Both are in Ukraine right now but will probably flee elsewhere.

Yelensis has details that point to willful murder of Darya Dugina:

An important clarification was already delivered by the experts: As to the question whether the bomb was on a timer or remote control, the answer already came in: remote control.

"In other words, the terrorists who were supposedly out to blow Dugin up in his own car, would have observed, how Darya got into the car instead. Not the original target. And then they would have had to make a decision: To blow up, or not to blow up? And they took the decision: Go ahead and blow up the daughter."

Aleksandr Dugin, as well as his daughter Darya, had been threatened:

The Ukrainians threaten and blacklist everybody in the world who doesn't give them full and unconditional support.

Dugin, however, is a special case, and particularly hated by the West and their proxies. Both Dugin and his daughter are on American/British "sanctions" lists. Dugin has been the recipient of non-stop hate-speech for years now. Westies hate and demonize him because of his philosophical ideas.

    Russian exile blames partisans for Dugina's murder | Aug. 22, 2022 |

After the death of right-wing Russian political scientist and journalist Darja Dugina, a previously unknown partisan movement claimed responsibility for the attack. "This attack opens a new page in Russian resistance to Putinism. A new one - but not the last," said the Russian Ilya Ponomarev, who lives in Ukraine, in a YouTube video published on Sunday evening.

The National Republican Army movement is said to be responsible for the murder of the daughter of right-wing nationalist ideologue Alexander Dugin, as the former member of the Russian Parliament explained. Whether such a "National Republican Army" actually exists was not initially verifiable. Some commentators on social networks doubted that an improvised opposition movement could be behind such a sophisticated and elaborately planned assassination and rather see the handwriting of Russian security authorities.

ФСБ уже все раскрыла? Кто может стоять за убийством Дарьи Дугиной

Has the FSB already revealed everything? Who could be behind the murder of Daria Dugina | Svobada / RFERL |

Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, said that Ukraine had nothing to do with the murder. "We are not a criminal state, which is the Russian Federation, and even more so not a terrorist state," Podolyak said. According to him, the murder of Darya Dugina may be connected either with Russia's desire to start not hidden, but real mobilization, or with the struggle of various political groups to redistribute the internal ideological space within the country.

On the morning of August 22, it became known that the National Republican Army took responsibility for the murder of Darya Dugina. Alexander Verkhovsky, head of the Sova information and analytical center, says that nothing has been known about this group so far: "I first heard about its existence just recently, after listening to its manifesto from the lips of Ilya Ponomarev (a former State Duma deputy living in Ukraine. - RS). To be honest, I'm not sure it really exists. To be more precise, the way he spoke did not inspire confidence in me. Although there may be such a group, nothing more is known about it." According to Alexander Verkhovsky, it is also premature to talk about the ideology of the National Republican Army due to lack of information.

It is not in our national security interests for Ukraine to become a member of NATO anyway, so why not give Russia that assurance?

If that were the case, Putin would have surely declared victory when it became clear (in April? May? I forget) that Ukraine would never ask for or obtain NATO membership.

    But no...

Consider a counterfactual past (say, December 2021) when international negotiations had given Putin guarantees that Ukraine would never be in NATO. And throw in the ceding of the Donbass/Sudetenland to Russia, and retrospective recognition of the annexion of Crimea.

Would that have made him abandon his land bridge / Novorossiya project?

In over thirty years since independence, the Ukraine has failed to become a United Ukraine ... see the division in most general elections. Ukraine did not succeed to meet the obligation agreed in the Minsk agreement. In 2021 the Zelensky administration, with backing of the White House, decided to abandon the agreement and prepared a military attack to destroy the separatists in the Donbas. Zelensky to show his humility not to endanger civilians urged the Russian speaking group to choose between him and Russia. In that case, they should leave the Donbas. A bit of ethnic cleansing. Ugly. Ukraine is a failed state and with the uncontrolled massive influx of lethal weapons will make the whole region of Eastern Europe a dangerous place for over a decade. Gangs, extremists, mobs and oligarchs divided between East and West makes a toxic cocktail.

The decision by NATO at the Bucharest Summit in 2008 under Bush/Cheney was to introduce the "Open Door" policy with an invite specifically for Georgia and Ukraine.  This was a red line for Russia and the Kremlin. Their national security would be at risk. Not acceptable for any nation and protected under the UN Charter.

President Bush Participates in Joint Press Availability with President Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine | Kyiv - April 1, 2008 |

For the last 80 years, Ukraine has declared its independence six times, and five times it failed. It failed probably because there were no international signatures -- honor our sovereignty, and very often Ukraine looked like a diversified country, a parted country in an international community. And we are speaking here about the system of political decisions that fixed it right.

The dogma of NATO left no room to negotiate and even the EU commissioner of foreign policy, Borrell, decided not to answer his colleague Lavrov.

The decision makers were in London and in Washington DC, not in Kyiv. Once the decision for war was made in the Kremlin, there is no way to undo the damage and war becomes a horrific momentum of hate and revenge. Leaders are fools and criminals. The whole Ukraine saga of two decades is disgusting. Corruption and oligarchy ...

Should NATO close its doors? | The Hill - Feb. 1, 2022 |

Russian President Vladimir Putin's demand to the United States is that this option be foreclosed, and, in particular, that the United States not seek to extend its defense perimeter further along the Russian border. Washington has rejected this demand, arguing that spheres of influence such as that which Russia is seeking to preserve, represent an outdated and now illegitimate concept.

This argument may seem somewhat unpersuasive as a defense for the continued enlargement of a chief source of American influence, that is the NATO alliance. And one can only imagine how any U.S. administration would react if a potential adversary sought to extend its defense perimeter to the U.S. border. In fact, one does not have to imagine, because the Soviet Union once tried, and Washington's reaction provoked the Cuban Missile Crisis

Only ar the end of March a trial balloon by Zelensky offering to discuss neutrality. Shot down in Kyiv, London and DC.

DW | Germany's Scholz says Putin started war for 'completely absurd' reasons, 21 Aug psychic
Olaf Scholz is certain that Vladimir Putin planned this war long before the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.

"This is a war that Putin, Russia, started, clearly with the intention of conquering its neighboring country. I think that was the original goal," Scholz said comparing Russia's actions with the early days of imperialism [?]. Russia is currently concerned with gaining territory in eastern Ukraine, but it is not certain that it will stay that way, the Chancellor said, so giving in is not a sensible strategy.

"Putin actually had the idea of swiping a felt-tip pen across the European landscape and then saying, 'This is mine and this is yours,'" Scholz said adding that Germany cannot accept that.

"This (Ukraine's entry into NATO) won't happen in the next 30 years," Scholz said during negotiations with Putin, the newspaper said.

However, according to the German chancellor, Putin [?!] has "completely absurd" ideas. For example, the Russian dictator told him that Belarus and Ukraine apparently "should not be separate states."

[Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu] repeated Russian propaganda claims about genocide in the Donbas and NATO posing a threat to Russia.
Behold! Zbigniew Rau, Minister of Foreign Affairs, "Freedom and equality of nations are the only defense against the Threat of imperialism" published in the "Rzeczpospolita" journal, 22 Aug gov.PL
Russia's aggression against Ukraine marked the end of an era in the history of Europe dominated by a conviction that another great war on the continent cannot happen given the traumatic experiences of the 20th century, while all European nations share a desire for peace. Faced with a tragic turn of events, we have come to realize that imperialism is not just a historical category but the lifeblood of the modern world affecting each of us, however differently, with its destructive power. Moreover, it has also become clear that imperialism cannot be integrated with the free world on a permanent basis, let alone in a harmonious way, by turning a blind eye to imperialistic ambitions, inclinations, or mere habits, by assenting to Reasoning and acting in terms of spheres of influence.
    [...]
Thus, today's European order, EU order, does not protect us from the erosion of freedom and equality of the member states, a trend which, as experience has shown, is conducive to the rebirth of imperialism. In this context, the proposal to create institutional conditions for Germany to assume a leading role in the European Union would only substantially exacerbate this lack of freedom and equality. Accordingly, if the German offer is to defend the EU from imperialism, which Germany feels responsible to do, the Union does not need German leadership but German self-limitation. Only then will that freedom and equality of the member states enable the EU to become the desired antithesis of imperialism....

Germany sends 'All Quiet on the Western Front' to Oscars

A jury in Munich decided on Wednesday evening which production should get a chance to win the best international feature film Academy Award in 2023 -- and selected "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Edward Berger, who also directed the

"All Quiet on the Western Front" is based on Erich Maria Remarque's 1929 novel of the same name, which is regarded as the epitome of the anti-war novel. The German author paints a portrait of a generation of young men who are in an upbeat mood when they leave school for the front; they end up perishing in the murderous war machine of World War I.

"Sleepwalkers" caused people to rethink World War I, and whether it was just Germany starting the war, or whether it was rather many European nations sleepwalking into a massive battle.

At the time, "All Quiet on the Western Front" was the biggest success in German literary history.

The novel was first adapted for the screen in the US in 1930, a film that won two Oscars. A second film version followed in 1979.

Moscow has made a decision how to proceed in the proxy war with NATO in the Ukraine.

We do not yet know what the decision is.

    ....
My hunch is that Russia received information over some weapon systems the U.S. is secretly providing to the Ukraine. This could be missiles with several hundred kilometer range or other types of weapons that could seriously threaten Russia's towns and cities.

If so, Russia has to do something now to end the war before its becomes more than a nuisance for Russia and its people. Ending means of course by winning it.

Army of Ukraine. The story could have been different | Oct. 14, 2019 |

For Defender of Ukraine Day, channel 24 has prepared for you a series of materials about the remarkable military achievements of our country: from Kievan Rus to now. After all, now everything could be different.

    1. Kievan Rus

The history of the Ukrainian army goes back to the powerful wife of Kyivan Rus. Channel 24 journalists want to draw your attention to one of the most serious and important victories of the forces of the Kyiv state on the way to world recognition - the campaign of Prince Oleg to Byzantium.

    * Prince Oleg in Constantinople

    2. Principality of Galicia-Volyn

We know about the powerful Galicia-Volyn principality and the first Ukrainian king Danylo Halytskyi from school history lessons. But what role did the policy of this prince actually play in the formation of the modern Ukrainian state?

While formally accepting the Mongols as overlords, and supplying them with soldiers as required, Daniil Romanovich of Halych built a foreign policy around opposition to the Golden Horde. He established cordial relations with the rulers of Kingdom of Poland and Kingdom of Hungary, and requested aid from Pope Innocent IV in the form of a crusade.

    * Coronation of Danylo Halytskyi in 1253

    3. Middle Ages

One of the greatest battles of the Middle Ages -- the Battle of Grunwald (July 1410)-- irreversibly influenced the course of Ukrainian history.

    * Battle of Grunwald / painting by Jan Matejka

    4. Cossacks

An entire period in the history of Ukraine, full of turning points, is named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. Khmelnytskyi became an invaluable stage of state building, but not all of its leader's plans were destined to become reality. So what was Khmelnytskyi's idea that could change today's fate of Ukrainians?

    * Bohdan Khmelnytsky enters Kyiv (1649)

    5. Battle of Konotop

The Battle of Konotop is a story that is so disliked in Russia. Then, in 1659, the combined forces of the hetman of Vyhov and the Crimean Khanate defeated the Muscovite army near Konotop, in modern Sumy Oblast. In this battle, the Moscow invaders lost their elite cavalry, which opened the way for the Cossacks to advance on Moscow.

    * Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky, who led the Battle of Konotop

    6. Cossack Army joined by Sweden against Russian Czar Peter I

Mazepa is one of the controversial, but also one of the greatest figures in the history of Ukrainian statehood. It was he who stood at the head of the Cossack army that went side by side with the Swedes against Peter I. Unfortunately, they lost the battle then. And this changed Ukrainian and world history forever.

    * Ivan Mazepa dreamed of an independent Ukraine

    7. 20th century

Ukrainians love freedom. Even in difficult times, when the enemy destroyed the Ukrainian state, ordinary people took up arms to protect themselves, their relatives and their land. Guerrilla warfare methods were constantly improved and inherited by subsequent generations. It is not surprising that one of the highlights of the era of the struggle for independence in 1917-22 were the actions of the "Makhnovites " in the Gulyaipol region, as well as the Kholodnoyarsk Republic.

    * Nestor Makhno is the "father" of anarchy

    8. Stepan Bandera

The activity of the Ukrainian insurgent army is probably one of the most controversial pages in Ukrainian history. However, if this organization did not exist, it is difficult to even imagine whether Ukraine would remain within the boundaries that are outlined on the map today.

Hero worshipping of Nazi corroborator Stepan Bandera in killing tens of thousands of Jewish Ukrainians and Poles in Galicia.

How a Jewish President made peace with Neo-Nazi paramilitaries on Front Lines of War with Russia

Back in October 2019, as the war in eastern Ukraine dragged on, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled to Zolote, a town situated firmly in the "gray zone" of Donbas, where over 14,000 had been killed, mostly on the pro-Russian side. There, the president encountered the hardened veterans of extreme right paramilitary units keeping up the fight against separatists just a few miles away.

Elected on a platform of de-escalation of hostilities with Russia, Zelensky was determined to enforce the so-called Steinmeier Formula conceived by then-German Foreign Minister Walter Steinmeier which called for elections in the Russian-speaking regions of Donetsk and Lugansk.

In a face-to-face confrontation with militants from the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion who had launched a campaign to sabotage the peace initiative called "No to Capitulation," Zelensky encountered a wall of obstinacy.

With appeals for disengagement from the frontlines firmly rejected, Zelensky melted down on camera. "I'm the president of this country. I'm 41 years old. I'm not a loser. I came to you and told you: Remove the weapons," Zelensky implored the fighters.
