Israel Campaign of Illegal Acts w Impunity

by Oui Sat Jan 7th, 2023 at 12:08:31 PM EST

The United States leads in using veto to block UN Security Council debate and resolutions to condemn the Jewish State as Netanyahu insists to define the Apartheid state.

Once Trump left the scene in the White House and "friend" Joe Biden entered the presidency, European nations led by Von der Leyen, Schulz and Borrell lined up behind the Abraham "Economic" Accords with Israel to further isolate the Palestinian people. Just awful and a rightwing policy of a European Union poisoned by racism and xenophobia coming to light. Where are the protest?

'Poison, lies': Israeli, Palestinian envoys spar at fiery UN session on Temple Mount | Times of Israel |

US blasts 'unilateral actions' during emergency Security Council meeting called after far-right minister Ben Gvir toured flashpoint Jerusalem holy site; Palestinians warn of 'uprising'

NEW YORK -- Israel's envoy to the United Nations lashed the Palestinians for what he described as "poison and lies" at an emergency Security Council session on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's recent visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The council's members, including the US, repeatedly stressed the importance of maintaining the status quo at the flashpoint compound, while the Palestinians warned of violence and denied any Israeli claim to the site, the holiest in Judaism.

Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan said the meeting, held in response to the visit by Ben Gvir on Tuesday, was "absurd" and hypocritical. Ben Gvir's 13-minute visit to the site was met with international condemnations and expressions of concern.

This blog used to have some excellent bloggers who stood for the Palestinian cause of their own state covering Gaza and all of the West Bank. Today the Zionist ideal of extending the Jewish State to the Jordan River and return to biblical times of their temple in Jerusalem and free settling on the land of Palestine, their Judea and Samaria. On the area of Gaza, Israel has imposed the concentration camp strategy.

Happy Birthday European Tribune!  by Jerome a Paris @dKos - June 2007 |

It's been two years today already since European Tribune went live, and I thought this would be a good opportunity to encourage you guys, who have already done so much to make that site exist, to continue to drop by and enjoy one of the highest signal-to-noise ratios of the blogosphere (says, in a typically arrogant European manner, the obviously-unbiased editor of the site!).

First of all, credit should go to Martin (Booman) who got Booman Tribune started a few months before, and suggested that we build a second site more focused on Europe. He provided the infrastructure, much needed guidance on how to run the site, and a friendly community to write for ...

I'll add a word of thank here for Welshman, who provided a lot of useful and on-point input during the preparation of the site. He finally chose not to participate to ET and we've had our disagreements since then, but he deserves a friendly nod for his role in this adventure.

Some of the early frontpagers, Soj and Sirocco are no longer with us, but they helped get the site started and provided a lot of excellent content during our first year. As far as I can tell, Soj's EuroPDB: June 13, 2005 was the first front page story 2 years ago. Colman and Fran, who joined almost from the start, as well as whataboutbob, who joined us a few weeks later ...

Israel imposes sanctions on Palestinians after moves at top UN court | Anadolu Agency |

Last week, UN approved resolution requesting International Court of Justice render 'advisory opinion' on Israeli occupation of Palestine

Israel announced a package of five sanctions against the Palestinian Authority (PA) on Friday in response to its diplomatic efforts to get the UN's top court to weigh in on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The measures were a "response to the Palestinian Authority's decision to wage political and legal war against the State of Israel," said a statement by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following a Cabinet meeting.

It said the first decision was to divert 139 million Israeli shekels ($39 million) of taxes collected by Tel Aviv on behalf of the PA to Israelis harmed by Palestinian attacks.

The second decision was to deduct from Palestinian tax earnings the same amount of funds that the PA pays to families of Palestinian prisoners and those killed in the conflict.

Another punitive step was to halt Palestinian construction activities in Area C, denoting parts of the occupied West Bank under Israel's administrative and security control until a final status agreement is reached with the Palestinians.

The statement said the fourth sanction was to revoke the VIP cards of Palestinian officials Israel accuses of leading Palestinian efforts in the UN. These documents are used by Palestinian officials to easily pass in and out of the occupied West Bank without being harassed or searched by Israeli forces at checkpoints.

According to the statement, the fifth decision was to take measures against Palestinian institutions in the occupied West Bank accused of working against Israel.
Last week, the UN General Assembly approved a resolution requesting the International Court of Justice to weigh in on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Israeli "annexation," and the "legal status of the occupation."

The resolution, which is titled "Israeli practices and settlement activities affecting the rights of the Palestinian people and other Arabs of the occupied territories," was promoted by the PA and it was passed by a vote of 87 in favor, 26 against, and 53 abstaining.

It calls on the top UN court to "render urgently an advisory opinion" on Israel's "prolonged occupation, settlement and annexation of Palestinian territory."

There is no turning back. It is time to learn a new lesson: We do no longer recognize the state of Israel. We could not recognize the South African apartheid regime, nor did we recognize the Afghan Taliban regime. Then there were many who did not recognize Saddam Hussein's Iraq or the Serbs' ethnic cleansing. We must now get used to the idea: The state of Israel in its current form is history.

We do not believe in the notion of God's chosen people. We laugh at this people's fancies and weep over its misdeeds. To act as God's chosen people is not only stupid and arrogant, but a crime against humanity. We call it racism.

Among Israel's Arab Citizens, Fury Grows | Posted by Sirocco | Aug 7, 2006 |

However much Israel's war of choice is sold to its Jewish majority as a war of necessity, this doesn't work with Arabs. Least of all with Israel's own 1.3 million Arab citizens, many of whom are also victims of the increasingly savage missile attacks, and nearly all of whom watch Arabic TV stations.

These Israeli Arabs, or Palestinians, were disenchanted with the "Jewish state" of Israel at the outset. This is due not only to solidarity with their kin in the occupied areas. Nor is it only due to the apartheid-like law reserving 94 percent of land for Jewish purchase only; nor to the one excluding Muslims from serving in the military (thus limiting their eligibility for social benefits) as well as in the police, the security services, and the prisons (though not as inmates); nor to a host of discriminatory statutes ranging from a 2003 "emergency regulation" restricting the right of Arabs to naturalize their families, to lower children's allowances for non-Jews. It is due to the sum of all these, and more generally, to systematically occupying the lowest rung of the socioeconomic ladder.

Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook As Censor In Chief - Crazy Moron | Sep 9, 2016 |

Not once but twice, the official Aftenposten newspaper got hit by removal, warning and sanction. No editors, but a Facebook algoritm was to blame, says goeroe Mark. In the meantime he manages to cut critics of Israel and human rights activists in the Gulf states. At last, the 1984 scenes have come to pass ... be sure to maintain all the digital social sites for contacts.

Facebook removed iconic Vietnam War photo of napalm girl

Norway's largest newspaper has published a front-page open letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, lambasting the company's decision to censor a historic photograph of the Vietnam war and calling on Zuckerberg to recognize and live up to his role as "the world's most powerful editor".

Espen Egil Hansen, the editor-in-chief and CEO of Aftenposten, accused Zuckerberg of thoughtlessly "abusing your power" over the social media site that has become a lynchpin of the distribution of news and information around the world, writing, "I am upset, disappointed - well, in fact even afraid - of what you are about to do to a mainstay of our democratic society."

Terror of napalm bombardment by US Forces during Vietnam War (Photo: Nick Ut / AP)

The controversy stems from Facebook's decision to delete a post by Norwegian writer Tom Egeland that featured The Terror of War, a Pulitzer prize-winning photograph by Nick Ut that showed children - including the naked 9-year-old Kim Phúc - running away from a napalm attack during the Vietnam war. Egeland's post discussed "seven photographs that changed the history of warfare" - a group to which the "napalm girl" image certainly belongs.

Too much of a coincidence or part of a strategy to reduce leftist criticism of war and Israel's policy contra Palestinians ... at the same time Zuckerberg was cooperating with Steve Bannon of the Trump political campaign, son-in-law Jared Kushner, family friend of Bibi Netanyahu, with Cambridge Analytica  to nudge the result of the presidential election 2016 to his advantage.

How MI-7 Fake News in 1917 Impacted the Nazi Genocide | Feb 19, 2017 |

In the spring of 1917 some of Britain's most influential newspapers published a gruesome story that has been called "the master hoax" - and I think we finally have proof about where it came from. Britain was at the time trying to bring China into the war on the Allied side.

In February a story appeared in the English-language North China Daily News that claimed the Kaiser's forces were "extracting glycerine out of dead soldiers". Rumours about processing dead bodies had been in circulation since 1915 but had not been presented as facts by any official source.

`Smell of burnt limes'

That changed in April when the Times and the Daily Mail published accounts from anonymous sources who claimed to have visited the Kadaververwertungsanstalt, or corpse-utilisation factory. The Times ran the story under the headline Germans and their Dead, attributing the claim to two sources - a Belgian newspaper published in England and a story that originally appeared in a German newspaper, Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger on 10 April.

Temple Mount prayer does not belong solely to right-wingers - opinion | JPost - Aug. 9, 2022 !

This Tisha Be'av, I was one of 2,201 Jews who visited the Temple Mount - possibly the largest group of Jews to visit that sacred site on our national day of mourning since the Romans destroyed the Second Temple in 70 CE.

I did not need to see all the huge kippot and wild-settler-youth side-curls surrounding me to know that this visit appeared partisan. But after waiting two hours, when we entered the Temple Mount, the thrill I felt was spiritual, historical and ideological - not political.

If you take it seriously, you don't go casually to the Temple Mount - it's a pilgrimage. Thus, the night before, I went to a ma'ayan, an oasis, as my mikveh. I am not a particularly pious guy. But dunking three times in the bracing cold water under the Jerusalem half-moon felt cleansing. That I dipped days after ending a seven-week stretch of wearing a cast and a brace over a still-healing broken wrist enhanced the sense of rebirth a meaningful mikveh experience offers.

ahram AFP APsplainin | Israel revokes entry permits for Palestinian FM, senior officials over UN move, 8 Jan "leading the political and legal war against Israel"
Palestinian FM Riad Malki said in a statement that he was returning from the Brazilian president's inauguration when he was informed that Israel rescinded his travel permit, which allows top Palestinian officials to travel easily in and out of the occupied West Bank, unlike ordinary Palestinians.

While Fatah officials Mahmud al-Alul, Azzam al-Ahmad, and Rawhi Fattouh had visited Karim Yunis an Israeli Arab in his home village of Ara in northern Israel following his release on Thursday after serving a 40-year sentence for killing an Israeli soldier.

"The three men took advantage of their status and entered Israel this morning (Saturday) to travel to the home of the terrorist Karim Yunis," the office of Defence Minister Yoav Galant said in a statement.

The move follows a decision Friday [6 Jan] by Israel's security cabinet to withhold millions of dollars in revenues from the Palestinian Authority and impose a moratorium on Palestinian construction projects in most of the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that decision was in response to the UN General Assembly's recent vote to refer Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories to the International Court of Justice [ICC] at the PA's request....

Haaretz | Under Ben-Gvir's Orders, Israel Police to Effectively Ban Palestinian Flags in Public, 9 Jan
The order from Kobi Shabtai comes after locals celebrated the release of Palestinian security prisoner Karim Younis[Yunis] in the northern village of 'Ara over the weekend, after he spent 40 years in Israeli jail for the kidnapping and murder of an Israeli soldier in 1980. Those celebrations included displaying the Palestinian flag.

Ben-Gvir's bureau also announced that the minister instructed the commissioner to open an internal investigation to examine why his previous instruction to prevent celebrations of the prisoner's release in 'Ara were only partially carried out by officers.

In November, the High Court of Justice rejected a petition from the Association for Civil Rights in Israel against the police's practice of confiscating these flags at protests in East Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. The court ruled that police are acting within the bounds of the law, but at the same time, the prosecution refrains from prosecuting people bearing the Palestinian flag....

NSO argued that it should be recognized as a foreign government agent and therefore be entitled to immunity under U.S. law limiting lawsuits against foreign countries. The request appeals a pair of earlier federal court rulings that rejected similar arguments by the Israeli company.

The Biden administration recommended that the court turn away the appeal. The Justice Department wrote that "NSO plainly is not entitled to immunity here."

CRS, "Armed Conflict in Syria: Overview and U.S. Response", 8 Nov 2022, 32 pp
In March 2022, the Syria conflict marked its 11th year. Analysts estimate that the conflict has
killed over half a million people (including combatants) and displaced half of Syria's prewar
population. Challenges for U.S. policymakers in Syria include countering groups linked to Al Qaeda, responding to the threat posed by Islamic State (IS/ISIS/ISIL/DAESH) remnants and detainees, facilitating humanitarian assistance, and managing Russian and Iranian challenges to U.S.
operations.
[...]
Humanitarian Situation. According to the United Nations 2022 Humanitarian Needs Overview for Syria, 14.6 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, an increase of 1.2 million from 2021. In 2014, the U.N. Security Council authorized the provision of cross-border humanitarian assistance into Syria via four approved crossing points; subsequent Russian vetoes have since reduced the U.N. authorization to a single crossing. In July 2022, the U.N. Security Council renewed its authorization for cross-border assistance into Syria for a period of 6 months, following a Russian veto of a 12-month extension. The new resolution is scheduled to expire on January 10, 2023.

U.S. Policy. Biden Administration officials have stated that the United States seeks a political settlement to the conflict in Syria consistent with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254 (2015). U.S. policy priorities in Syria include (1) defeating the Islamic State and Al Qaeda; (2) increasing access to humanitarian aid; (3) reducing violence by maintaining local cease-fires; and (4) promoting accountability for atrocity crimes committed during the course of the conflict.

U.S. Military Presence. Roughly 900 U.S. troops operate in Syria in support of counter-IS operations by local partner forces, as part of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). U.S. forces in Syria continue to face threats from Iran-backed militias, which have targeted U.S. positions in the country....

H.R. 6265, Countering Assad's Proliferation Trafficking and Garnering of Narcotics Act (Senate S.3392)
would require several federal agencies, including the Departments of Defense and State, to provide to the Congress an interagency strategy to disrupt and dismantle drug production and trafficking networks linked to the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. On the basis of information about similar requirements, CBO estimates that providing the strategy required under the bill would cost less than $500,000 over the 2022-2027 period.

Former IDF General: Arrest Gantz and Lapid for Treason | Tikun Olam |

MK Tvika Fogel and Deputy Minister Almog Cohen accuse Gantz and Lapid of "sedition," threaten to arrest them 'in handcuffs'

My post:

"Israel now has a fascist government...

If you take issue with "just now" I can agree, for more than a decade the characteristics of fascist rule has been part of the Jewish State of Israel. As Richard pointed out, the Rabin years offered a true chance for a future living side by side with your neighbours. Hate killed Rabin and will destroy more lives.

I truly abhor the West for looking the other way when a "friend" abuses human rights on a grand scale. The enthusiasm to work with Netanyahu as leader was distasteful ... to reaction to Kahane-style provocation and terror was hypocritic.

Tory fan Mark Rutte adds his two bits: "I underlined the Netherlands' continuing support for a two-state solution, and its opposition to any steps that put this in jeopardy."

Mark closest advisors are a class of PR people and a large contingent of lawyers on how to circumvent the Geneva Convention on asylum and treatment refugees [mostly Syrian] in accordance with ECHR laws and EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. Today Dutch Supreme Court will correct his stupidity.

Netanyahu lost his moral compass years ago, but his electoral deal with Israel's most extreme racists is a moment of crisis, and a test, for American Jews.

Benjamin Netanyahu faced media criticism this week for hosting the right-wing prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary who have been accused of being anti-immigrant and anti-Semitic. But in response, Likud MK Anat Berko epitomized Netanyahu's politics in a single sentence: "They might be anti-Semites, but they're on our side."
