German Court Upholds Police Ban on Palestinian Nakba Event Over Antisemitism, Incitement Fears | Haaretz - 20 May 2023 |

Police say the event could have led to 'antisemitic incitement of the people, glorification of violence, the conveyance of a willingness to use violence and thus to intimidation and violence'

The ban on the demonstration, which had been planned for this Saturday, cannot be challenged further.

Police had banned the event because they said there was a danger that it could lead to "antisemitic incitement of the people, glorification of violence, the conveyance of a willingness to use violence and thus to intimidation and violence."

Nakba Day, which is observed on May 15, commemorates the flight and expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the 1948 war that followed the founding of the state of Israel.

Israel to retain control of Gaza's security after war: Netanyahu | Anadolu Agency - 12 hrs ago |

Israeli premier says Gaza 'must be demilitarized' after war, rejects idea of international force

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that the Israeli army will retain control of Gaza's security after the war, rejecting the possibility of giving that responsibility to an international force.

Speaking at a news conference after a meeting with his war cabinet, Netanyahu said Gaza "must be demilitarized" after the war ends.

"And in order for Gaza to be demilitarized, there is only one force that can see to this demilitarization - and that force is the IDF," he said, referring to the Israeli army, adding "no international force can be responsible for this."

"We have seen what has happened in other places where they brought in international forces for the goal of demilitarization. I am not prepared to close my eyes and accept any other arrangement."

Noting that the Israeli army had expanded its operation to the southern Gaza Strip, Netanyahu said the army had also besieged Jabalia and Khan Younis, adding "there is no place we cannot reach."

He called on the civilian population to leave the areas in which they are fighting the Palestinian group Hamas.

"I say here to our friends in the world who are pressing for a quick end to the war: Our only way to end the war, and end it quickly, is to apply crushing pressure against Hamas - and destroy it," he added.

This is a War on Children, and "Safe Zones" are Death Traps: UNICEF | Juan Cole |

Gaza was a free-fire zone on Saturday and Sunday, with UN officials saying that no place in the Strip is safe. Hundreds were killed, almost all of them innocent noncombatants, and including a worrisome number of children.

Although Israel tried to pull the stunt of issuing a map with supposedly safe zones, almost no one in Gaza has access to the map because of electricity outages and lack of internet access. Moreover, many Palestinians don't have transport, and there is nothing to eat or drink at those places anyway. Many are refusing to move again, since so many are already internally displaced persons crowded into inadequate UN run relief shelters, which lack sufficient food, water and other necessities for these hundreds of thousands of people made homeless.

Elder clearly is putting his life on the line to report on this gut punch of a humanitarian disaster for children in Gaza, over 6,000 of whom are already known to have been blasted to smithereens by Israeli Air Force pilots, with more thousands under the rubble, some of them dying slow deaths from dehydration before they expire. Gaza journalists are essentially putting out goodbye videos, saying they can no longer gather news, and that they may not survive the carpet bombing.

In interview, CNN reporter Rosales first played a video Elder had put out on social media in which he warned,

"We see more children with the wounds of war, with the burns, with the shrapnel littering their body, with the broken bones. Inaction by those with influence is allowing the killing of children. This is a war on children."

Rosales asked him to describe the situation at the hospital where he was located at greater length ....

Doctors Without Borders Demand Immediate Ceasefire as Hospitals turned into "Morgues" | Juan Cole |

Doctors without Borders (the French volunteer organization Médecins Sans Frontières [MSF]) has written a poignant letter to the United Nations Security Council imploring for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

"Words fail us to describe the absolute horror being inflicted on Palestinian civilians by Israel as it carries out incessant and indiscriminate warfare in Gaza for all the world to see."

They took this step after Israeli troops deliberately attacked MSF rescue vehicles and destroyed them with tank fire.

The organization wrote to the UNSC, "My colleagues and I, like so many people around the world, were distressed and shocked by Hamas's attack on Israeli civilians. Now, after 58 days, words fail us to describe the absolute horror being inflicted on Palestinian civilians by Israel as it carries out incessant and indiscriminate warfare in Gaza for all the world to see."

Note that indiscriminate warfare harming innocent noncombatants is a war crime.

MSF accused the Israeli authorities of showing "a blatant and total disregard" for the protection of clinics and hospitals. The Rome Statute brands a war crime "Intentionally directing attacks against . . . hospitals and places where the sick and wounded are collected, provided they are not military objectives."

One of the reasons for the apparent Israeli hoax that medical facilities in Gaza were Hamas command centers was to allow them cover for destroying health care in Gaza's north as a way of forcing the population to relocate to the south.

The physicians say that they are "watching as hospitals are turned into morgues and ruins. These supposedly protected facilities are being bombed, are being shot at by tanks and guns, encircled and raided, killing patients and medical staff."

They note that the World Health Organization (WHO) has a file of 203 Israeli attacks on medical facilities that have killed at least 22 doctors and nurses and injured 59.
MSF reports that physicians have been having to amputate badly burned childrens' hands, arms or legs, without anesthesia or the ability to sterilize their scalpels.

I am reading from many sources. +972 Magazine is good.

The gruesome details of the Hamas attack, truly gruesome, are causing renewed reverberating reactions and serves to traumatize, re-traumatize, terrorize again, enrage, justify retaliation now and in the future..

We see it now in "anti-Semitic" attacks pronounced only since 10/7. The Israeli rage-retaliation war that they are deeply into that we here support has to be adding more terror to the original Hamas terror making the entire situation worse.

The need for Israel as they destroy is to keep people sympathetic to Israel as the victim. The so-called "pro-Israel" side of this pushes these gruesome details to work people up, to justify what we are seeing in Gaza. Traumatized people.

I hope the Security Council is able to declare a ceasefire. "António Guterres, the secretary general of the United Nations, on Wednesday called on the Security Council to declare an immediate and binding cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war, invoking a rare and powerful tool in the U.N. Charter known as Article 99."

Israel revokes UN humanitarian coordinator's visa for 'not condemning Hamas' | The Cradle |

Israel's Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced on 5 December the state's decision to revoke the resident visa of UN humanitarian coordinator Lynn Hastings.

"We will no longer be silent in the face of the bias of the UN!" the foreign minister said via social media. "I decided to revoke the residence visa to Israel of the UN humanitarian coordinator Lynn Hastings."

The Israeli foreign minister's remarks came on the heels of comments made by Hastings, in which she voiced concern for the Palestinian people after Israel resumed indiscriminate attacks on residential neighborhoods, hospitals, and UN shelters.

    Hasting's statement read:

"Nowhere is safe in Gaza, and there is nowhere left to go. The conditions required to deliver aid to the people of Gaza do not exist. If possible, an even more hellish scenario is about to unfold, one in which humanitarian operations may not be able to respond."

Israel's UN envoy, Gilad Erdan, had also voiced his condemnation of the organization's view regarding the war between Israel and Palestinian resistance.
