Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Energy (and Other) Events - November 2024

by gmoke Sat Oct 26th, 2024 at 07:55:36 PM EST

These kinds of events below are happening all over the world every day and most of them, now, are webcast and archived, sometimes even with accurate transcripts. Would be good to have a place that helped people access them. This is a more global version of the local listings I did for about a decade (what I did and why I did it at http://hubeventsnotes.blogspot.com/2013/11/what-i-do-and-why-i-do-it.html) until September 2020 and earlier for a few years in the 1990s (http://theworld.com/~gmoke/AList.index.html).

A more comprehensive global listing service could be developed if there were enough people interested in doing it, if it hasn't already been done.

If anyone knows of such a global listing of open energy, climate, and other events is available, please put me in contact.

Thanks for reading,
Solar IS Civil Defense,
George Mokray

Merwede Utrecht the First Bidirectional City

Living the Green Life in Bloom Merwede, Utrecht

Sustainable energy solution for a unique city district

The Merwede plan will include 18 building blocks. The roofs are used with as much space as possible for greenery and solar panels. The entire city quarter will be disconnected from the national gas grid.

Essent will install an energy system based on the ectogridTM principles, whereby as much energy as possible is exchanged between buildings. This saves energy, which makes the system more sustainable and more affordable.

The energy in the system comes from an aquifer thermal energy system and an aquathermal system that extracts heat from the nearby Merwede canal. In a number of strategically placed technical rooms a heat pump station is installed to upgrade the temperature to the correct level for comfort heating and domestic hot water.

Will Utrecht become the world's first bidirectional city? | AEC |

Utrecht pioneers large-scale bidirectional charging with 10,000 cars, reducing grid congestion. We Drive Solar leads this initiative, letting residents experience a 'mobile neighborhood battery'.
