The assassination of Abu Baghdadi in Idlib

The Return of Prince Bandar: Saudi's New Spy Chief | Brookings - 23 July 2012 |
Prince Bandar bin Sultan served as ambassador to Washington for years. He helped Reagan defeat the Soviets in Afghanistan. He helped Bush defeat Saddam in Kuwait.
He helped Clinton try to make peace between Israel and the Arabs. And he helped Bush fight al Qaeda. He is a master of clandestine diplomacy and secret deals. In 1989, he negotiated a secret missile deal with China that shocked Washington when it found the missiles were already deployed in secret bases in the Arabian desert.
He has been out of sight most of the last decade. But the king has used him for occasional top-secret missions. When the Arab Spring began and Mubarak fell, the king sent Bandar to Pakistan and China to make certain those two critical Saudi allies were still fully behind the royals.
Now the Saudis see an Arab world in transition from decades of lethargic stability to a chaotic future. The kingdom has intervened with force to stop a Shia revolt in Bahrain, used diplomacy to ease out Yemeni President Salih, and backed the revolts in Syria and Libya against old hated enemies. The Saudis hope the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad will deal a body blow to Iran and Hezbollah. The kingdom wants to make an alliance with the new regime in Egypt and just hosted a visit by President Morsi.
When the Arab Spring began and Mubarak fell, the king sent Bandar to Pakistan and China to make certain those two critical Saudi allies were still fully behind the royals.
At home, the Saudis face mounting unrest among their own Shia minority in the oil-rich Eastern Province. The al Qaeda threat remains deadly in Yemen.
Saudi intelligence is a vital U.S. ally in the fight against al Qaeda. Twice in the last two years, the Saudis foiled al Qaeda plots to attack American cities. Now it will be Bandar's job.
Bandar's first and most urgent task will be Syria. The Saudis want Asad gone sooner not later and Bandar will get the rebels more arms. Its deeply ironic since Bandar played an important role in helpng Bashar consolidate power when his father Hafez died in 2000. Bandar pressed Syria's generals then to accept the young man as tough enough for the job. Now he must be Bashar's undoing.
UAE Hired US Mercenaries for Assassinations in Yemen | 25 Dec 2018 |
Israeli-American Abraham Golan was hired by the UAE and Mohammed Dahlan, former head of Palestinian Preventive Security, to head a team of mercenaries tasked with killing a Yemeni Islamist leader.
Dahlan was in close contact with the CIA and Israel's Shin Bet security service and accumulated a personal fortune. He was accused of creaming off tax revenues into his bank account and is widely seen as corrupt.

Iran Hostilities: Retaliation Missiles Launched | 6 Jan 2020 |
The cowboy diplomacy that has been part of the Republican foreign policy "strategy" will put a strain on the US-EU relations and all other alliances with America. There is really no surprise in the events culminating in war talk and military attacks just short of a declaration of war between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. After shredding the JCPOA treaty, the US has returned to its 40 years of war on Iran with the harshest of economic sanctions.
Where President George W. Bush was moderated by just a few wiser guys than he himself was, although VP Dick Cheney, surrounded by a Neocon cabal, took the reins more than once. The invasion and occupation of Iraq was a ugly turning point for the well being in ME and a tricky balance between Sunni and Shia in the region. Two autocrats with great influence in the region, Egypt's president Mubarak and the Saudi Wahhabist ruler King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud both strongly opposed the impending war. They clearly warned it would open a Pandora's Box with an uncertain outcome. They were right, the Shia majority would lead in the aftermath and once democratisering would gain a foothold, would be linked to its powerful neighbor Iran.
The Neocons had always set their sight on neighbouring states of Israel, so Lebanon, Libya and Syria would follow.
ISIS Leader Killed in U.S. Raid in Syria | 4 Feb 2022 |
The leader of ISIS was killed in a predawn U.S. raid in northwestern Syria.
U.S. intelligence eventually tracked Qurayshi to rebel-held Idlib province in northwestern Syria. Before dawn on February 3, helicopters carried some two dozen commandos to the town of Atmeh, near the border with Turkey. To minimize civilian casualties, Biden sent special forces instead of ordering an airstrike. The ground forces were backed by drones and fighter jets. U.S. forces closed in on a three-story cinder block building and, through bullhorns, told everyone inside to surrender.
Just days after Baghdadi's death in October 2019, ISIS named Qurayshi as its new leader. Qurayshi was a nom de guerre he adopted for his new position. He was born Amir Muhammad Said Abdal-Rahman al Mawla in 1976 in Nineveh province in Iraq. The son of an imam grew up in Mosul.
Abu Mohammad al-Jolani the new leader of the freedom fighters from terror enclave, Idlib province ... region known for targeted air strikes by Russia, Syria, Turkey, United States and Iran in response to terror attacks.

Inside the Iraqi factions' decision to keep out of Syria
Assad failed to compromise and gets himself in deep trouble ... the coalition of 2011 has been restored and will likely succeed as the odds have turned into their favour. The Shia militias are sitting this one out.
A great loss ... commander Qasem Soleimani, martyred at the hands of president Trump. The Idlib enclave has become a proxy terror state for America and Western allies - see the IS-K terror attacks in Kerman, Iran and the Circus City Hall terror attack in Moscow (Tajiks). HTS is supported by Ukrainian advisors in use of drones (Turkey) and electronic warfare.
Of course Joe Biden managed to unite all evil actors Russia - Iran - DPRK - China. A powder keg ready to explode.

Up to $10 Million Reward Offered for Information on the Leader of the al Nusrah Front | FBI - 10 May 2017 |
The FBI is seeking information on the leadership of the al Nusrah Front (ANF), a foreign terrorist organization, to include information on Muhammad al-Jawlani. Today, the U.S. Department of State's Rewards for Justice program announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of Muhammad al-Jawlani.
In 2011 al-Jawlani, also known as Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani, Abu Mohammed al-Julani, and Abu Muhammad al-Golani, established ANF. In 2013, al-Jawlani, as a leader of ANF, pledged the organization's allegiance to al Qaeda and its leadership. In 2016, al-Jawlani claimed that the ANF was changing its name to Jabhat Fath Al Sham, or "Conquest of the Levant Front," which has also been known as Jabhat al-Nusrah, Jabhet al-Nusra, The Victory Front, and al-Nusrah Front for the People of the Levant.
The U.S. State Department designated ANF as a foreign terrorist organization under the Immigration and Nationality Act and a specially designated global terrorist entity. In May 2013, al-Jawlani was named a specially designated global terrorist, by the U.S. State Department, blocking all his property and interests in property subject to U.S. jurisdiction and prohibiting U.S. persons from dealing with him.
On July 24, 2013, the UN Security Council ISIL (Da'esh) and al Qaeda Sanctions Committee placed al-Jawlani on its list of sanctioned terrorists, making him subject to an international asset freeze, travel ban, and arms embargo.

Under al-Jawlani's leadership, Al-Nusrah Front (ANF), one of the most capable al-Qa‘ida-affiliated groups operating in Syria, has carried out multiple terrorist attacks throughout the country, often targeting civilians. In April 2015, ANF reportedly kidnapped, and later released, approximately 300 Kurdish civilians from a checkpoint in Syria. In June 2015, ANF claimed responsibility for the massacre of 20 residents in the Druze village of Qalb Lawzeh in Idlib province, Syria.
In April 2013, al-Jawlani pledged allegiance to AQ and its leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. In July 2016, al-Jawlani praised AQ and al-Zawahiri in an online video and claimed the ANF was changing its name to Jabhat Fath Al Sham ("Conquest of the Levant Front").

Hamas severs ties with Assad, backs Syrian revolt | JPost - 24 Feb 2012 |
Hamas says Syria revolt will triumph, turns back on ally Assad; worshipers chant "No" to Iran and Hezbollah.
Leaders of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas turned publicly against their long-time ally Syrian President Bashar Assad of Syria, endorsing the revolt aimed at overthrowing his dynastic rule.
The policy shift deprives Assad of one of his few remaining Sunni Muslim supporters in the Arab world and deepens his international isolation. It was announced in Hamas speeches at Friday prayers in Cairo and a rally in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas went public after nearly a year of equivocating as Assad's army, largely led by fellow members of the president's Alawite sect, has crushed mainly Sunni protesters and rebels.

Top Saudi official: Barack Obama lied, set Middle East back 20 years | JPost - 28 Jan 2019 |
Obama, Bandar Bin Sultan said, "would promise something and do the opposite." He spoke critically of the Iran nuclear deal and how the former president spoke about curbing Iran but failed.
Former US president Barack Obama lied to Saudi Arabia when violating the redlines he famously declared regarding Syria's use of chemical weapons and then not acting when they were used, a former senior Saudi official said in an interview with Independent Arabia. [funded by Saudi Arabis]
Bandar bin Sultan served for years as head of Saudi intelligence as well as the Saudi ambassador to the United States. In the interview, he recalled a last phone call between the late Saudi King Abdullah and Obama, during which the Saudi leader told the US president: "I did not expect that [after] this long life, I would see [the day] when an American president lies to me."
Obama, bin Sultan said, "would promise something and do the opposite." He said that the president took the Middle East back 20 years and also spoke critically of the Iran nuclear deal and how the former president spoke publicly about curbing Iran's activities, but then went behind Saudi Arabia's back and negotiated the nuclear deal.
These policies by Obama, he said, emboldened Russia and Iran and paved the way for them to enter Syria and interfere in the civil war that has raged there since 2011.
Syrian President Bashar Assad, he said, was a "kid" and that while his late father Hafez was capable of making decisions, Bashar could not.
