Biden slams Republicans for hiding behind Trump and MAGA undermining NATO unity ...

GOP Is Making s Big Mistake by Not Responding to the Russian threat

The idea that we're going to walk away from Ukraine, the idea that we're going to let NATO begin to split is totally against the interests of the United States of America and it is against our word we've given ... all the way back to Eisenhower,' he told reporters Sunday.

Biden says GOP making 'big mistake' on Ukraine aid

President Biden, in the wake of the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, said Republicans are "making a big mistake" in opposing Ukraine aid.

So Joe's memory about Ike is tainted as well ... fantasy Joe saying anything that comes to mind at his old age ... incoherent ... Jake Sullivan pulling the strings?

If it wasn't for Ike, there would be no NATO ...

DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER

"IN ALL HISTORY, THIS IS THE
FIRST TIME THAT AN ALLIED
HEADQUARTERS HAS BEEN SET
UP IN PEACE, TO PRESERVE THE
PEACE AND NOT TO WAGE WAR."

The build-up of armies, weapons during the Cold War made even Eisenhower repentant. Spending on armament is theft from public needs ...

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." -President Eisenhower

Warsaw Pact, (May 14, 1955-July 1, 1991) treaty establishing a mutual-defense organization (Warsaw Treaty Organization) composed originally of the Soviet Union and Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Romania. (Albania withdrew in 1968, and East Germany did so in 1990.) The treaty (which was renewed on April 26, 1985) provided for a unified military command and for the maintenance of Soviet military units on the territories of the other participating states.

The immediate occasion for the Warsaw Pact was the [London and] Paris agreement among the Western powers admitting West Germany to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The treaty also served as a lever to enhance the bargaining position of the Soviet Union in international diplomacy, an inference that may be drawn by the concluding article of the treaty, which stipulated that the  Warsaw agreement would lapse when a general East-West collective-security pact should come into force.

How NATO and Warsaw Pact forces stacked up against each other throughout the Cold War

The American CIA had the habit to strongly overrate the strength of the Soviet Union.

President Kennedy's Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

President Kennedy addresses the danger of complete destruction with nuclear weapons, then reveals that an agreement has been reached with Moscow: The Russians will stop nuclear testing.

Building the nation and Europe after the destruction by Nazi Germany and the genocide - concentration camps and extermination of the Jewish people. Many nationalists of other nations were complicit by collaboration as the Hitler military axis swept across borders in a Blitzkrieg of destruction and despair until halted by the Soviet Red Army and the brutal siege of Leningrad 1941-44.

During the Cold War, U.S. Presidents were leaders and voiced hope, not fear. The darkness after the fall of the Berlin Wall brought a short-lived hope that soon turned into exploitation of fear, creating enemies, destroy states by military invasion and inhumane economic sanctions. War by other means weaponizing hunger, despair and basic medical care.
