Biblical Verses at Time of Passover 2024 - 5784

Announcing extra genocidal acts, killings in Rafah, southern Gaza.

PM Netanyahu in a pre-Passover address: "Hamas hardens its heart and refuses to let our people go, and therefore, we will send it additional and painful plagues - and it will happen soon."

Joe in his own words on the meaning of religion ...

Statement from President Joe Biden on Passover

Tomorrow night, Jews around the world will celebrate Passover, recounting their miraculous Exodus story from hundreds of years of enslavement in Egypt and their journey to freedom.

This holiday reminds us of a profound and powerful truth: that even in the face of persecution, if we hold on to faith, we shall endure and overcome.

Continued below the fold ...

As Jews mark Passover with storytelling, songs, and rituals, they will also read from the Haggadah how, in every generation, they have been targeted by those who would seek to destroy them. This year, those words carry deeper resonance and pain in the wake of Hamas' unspeakable evil on October 7th - the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. More than 1,200 people were brutally massacred. Women and girls were subjected to appalling sexual violence. More than 250 innocents were taken hostage, including Americans. We can never forget the horror of Hamas' despicable atrocities.

Jews around the world are still coping with the trauma of that day and its aftermath. This Passover falls particularly hard on hostage families trying to honor the spirit of the holiday - a story centered on freedom - while their loved ones remain in captivity. Our hearts are with all the victims, survivors, families, and friends whose loved ones have been killed, taken hostage, wounded, displaced, or are in harm's way.

My commitment to the safety of the Jewish people, the security of Israel, and its right to exist as an independent Jewish state is ironclad. My Administration is working around the clock to free the hostages, and we will not rest until we bring them home. We are also working to establish an immediate and prolonged ceasefire in Gaza as a part of a deal that releases the hostages and delivers desperately needed humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians. We will continue to work toward a two-state solution that provides equal security, prosperity, and enduring peace for Israelis and Palestinians. And we are leading international efforts to ensure Israel can defend itself against Iran and its proxies, including by directing the U.S. military to help defend Israel against Iran's unprecedented attacks last weekend.

The ancient story of persecution against Jews in the Haggadah also reminds us that we must speak out against the alarming surge of Antisemitism - in our schools, communities, and online.

Silence is complicity. Even in recent days, we've seen harassment and calls for violence against Jews. This blatant Antisemitism is reprehensible and dangerous - and it has absolutely no place on college campuses, or anywhere in our country. My Administration will continue to speak out and aggressively implement the first-ever National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, putting the full force of the federal government behind protecting the Jewish community.

This year, let us remember the central Passover theme that even in the darkest of times, the promise of God's protection will give us strength to find hope, resilience, and redemption.

To all those celebrating this Festival of Freedom: Jill and I wish you a Happy Passover, Chag Sameach.

GRUESOME IDF FORCES IN GAZA -- UNCENSORED

Israel army operates channel to share gruesome killing of Palestinians | MEMO |

The Israeli military is operating a Telegram channel named "72 Virgins - Uncensored", where soldiers of the apartheid state share gruesome killing of Palestinians to over 5,300 followers with captions like "Burning their mother", a Haaretz investigation has found.

The channel is said to be run by the IDF Operations Directorate's Influencing Department, which is responsible for psychological warfare.

[...]

An 11 October post reportedly read: "Burning their mother ... You won't believe the video we got! You can hear the crunch of their bones. We'll upload it right away, get ready." Images of Palestinian captives were captioned "Exterminating the roaches ... exterminating the Hamas rats ... Share this beauty." A video of an Israeli soldier allegedly dipping machine gun bullets in pork fat had the caption: "What a man!!!!! Lubricates bullets with lard. You won't get your virgins." And: "Garbage juice!!!! Another dead terrorist!! You have to watch it with the sound, you'll die laughing."

Shockingly, the content encourages followers to share, emphasising a desire for everyone to witness what is described as the IDF "screwing them." Each night, the channel posts IDF updates on Gaza, promising exclusive images and videos. A particularly disturbing video on 14 October showed an Israeli vehicle repeatedly driving over a terrorist's body, with accompanying comments encouraging such actions.

The channel expanded its focus beyond Gaza, sharing footage of Israelis, including members of the Beitar Jerusalem soccer team's fan club, La Familia, engaging in violent riots at Sheba Medical Centre. The accompanying post praised the rioters as heroes "who came to screw the Arabs".

Horrific revelation of the gruesome images and caption gleefully shared by Israeli soldiers are said to follow previous exposés of IDF psychological warfare operations targeting Israeli citizens. In 2021, occupation forces conducted a deceptive campaign during the Gaza onslaught, leading to admissions of error after being exposed. The Telegram channel also urges followers to share its content, claiming it to be exclusive.

thecradle.co | Israel prepares Rafah evacuation with US, Arab assistance: WSJ, 23 Apr
The Israeli army is closing in on completing its plans for an assault on the Gaza Strip's southern city of Rafah, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on 23 April.
Israel Moves Closer to Rafah Invasion as Iran Crisis Wanes
Israel is preparing to move civilians from Rafah to nearby Khan Younis and other areas, where it plans to set up shelters with tents, food-distribution centers and medical facilities such as field hospitals, according to Egyptian officials briefed on the Israeli plans. That evacuation operation would last two to three weeks and be done in coordination with the U.S., Egypt and other Arab countries such as the United Arab Emirates, the Egyptian officials said. They said Israel plans to move troops into Rafah gradually, targeting areas where Israel believes Hamas leaders and fighters are hiding.
WSJ cites Egyptian officials as saying that Israel's plan to evacuate civilians from the city will take two to three weeks and will be carried out in cooperation with Washington, Cairo, and other Arab states, including the UAE. The attack on Rafah will have a "very tight operational plan because it's very complex there," an Israeli security official told the outlet. "There's a humanitarian response that's happening at the same time."
[...]
Egypt has been briefed on the details of the plan. Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported [18 Apr] are "at full readiness" in northern Sinai and along the Egyptian border with Gaza. The increased readiness came after "contacts from the Israeli side" relating to preparations for the operation in the southern city.

thecradle.co | Majority of Israelis mistrust Gaza resettlement plans, 24 Apr poll smoke
A new poll from the Israel Democracy Institute [idl.org] found that just a fifth of Israelis, 19 percent, believe that Israel should establish Jewish settlements in a conquered Gaza Strip when the current war ends, Haaretz reported on 22 April.

ibid
When asked what should be done now that most of Israel's forces have left Gaza, 33 percent of Israelis said control of the besieged enclave should be transferred to an international force, 24 percent said that a small number of Israeli troops should continue to occupy Gaza to maintain military control, and 13 percent said that it should be handed over to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
[...]
Among Arab Israelis, 46 percent said that the PA should control the Strip, 25 percent want an international force stationed there, and 7.5 percent prefer an Israeli military presence. The remaining 20.5 percent said they didn't know, and just 1 percent supported resettling Gaza.

The Israel Lobby with John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt | Outside the Box Podcast - 17 April 2024 |

In this episode of the Outside the Box podcast, host Dr. Michael Desch is joined by guests Dr. John Mearsheimer and Dr. Stephen Walt to discuss the taboo surrounding the Israel lobby. They highlight the historical backdrop of anti-Semitism in the West, conspiracy theories, and the tragic events of the Holocaust that make it challenging to discuss the lobby without triggering accusations of anti-Semitism. The guests also acknowledge that the lobby itself has used accusations of anti-Semitism to marginalize and silence critics.

Overall, this episode delves into the intricate dynamics of interest group politics and criticizes not only the lobby but also Israel and the U.S.-Israeli relationship.

'Zionist lobby' paranoia is growing (Jewish Chronicle) | by David Aaronovitch |

[...]

He obviously didn't know this, but two weeks earlier I had participated in a televised debate at the Oxford Union on the motion that the pro-Israeli lobby had stifled debate on the Middle East in the West. This event, like all the Doha debate series, was put together by an organisation sponsored by the Qatari authorities which is attempting to spread free discussion in the Arab world, and was attended by a range of people, not -- as is usual for the Oxford Union -- just students.

On my side, opposing the a>motion, was Martin Indyk former US ambassador to Israel. I didn't know him and was worried lest I found myself debating alongside a raving Likudnik, but he was no such thing. On the other side were the journalist Andrew Cockburn and the American academic Norman Finkelstein.

Dr Finkelstein, who blames his lack of academic preferment on the activities of the Israeli lobby in the US, was probably the most intense man I have ever encountered. His website bears testimony to the volume of abuse that he suffers from various people -- often Jewish -- who loathe him for his writings about what he sees as the Zionist exploitation of the Holocaust. I noted his genuine suffering while wondering what he expected when he decided so uncompromisingly to tell people what they least wanted to hear.

BOYKO: You mention your rivals, and I heard in previous interviews, you described them 'the messianic bigots' who actually believe that policy is supposed to the coming of the messiah, that they're fundamentalists and the mirror image of Hamas. If so, how do you think they understand the messiah and what values the messiah is supposed to represent?
CASSIF: First of all, it is true of many of the ministers and parties' factions that are part of this coalition and government. Fortunately, I think, they evolve from being the majority of the Israel public....

An ugly Zionist truth ... no place for Palestine!

Zionist Dream of Land from the River to the Sea - No Palestinians Will Be There

AFSI has circulated its own "2 state solution" plan based on the 1922 partition of Palestine, rejecting the idea of a third Palestinian state. AFSI calls for stateless Arabs to be relocated out of Israel at international expense, with those remaining to be "declared citizens of Jordan with the appropriate legal steps taken so that they remain within Israel and loyal to Israel (sic) law."

Funding

Funds obtained from Irving Moskowitz's Bingo: $585,036 between 1987 and 2001.

Countering Islamophobia One Tweet at a Time | 3 Nov 2023 |

The American Muslim defense organization, CAIR, published a new account of Islamophobia in America, Islamophobia in the Mainstream.

It reports that wealthy US foundations gave $105-million between 2017-2019 to hate groups with an Islamophobic agenda.

It examined the 50 largest US foundations and focussed on 35 which gave the funds to 26 organizations.  Among the foundations were ones founded by noted far-right fixtures: the late gambling magnate, Sheldon Adelson, Irving Moskowitz, who earned his wealth through a Southern California bingo empire, and Bernie Marcus, founder of Home Depot. The Jewish Communal Fund and Jewish federations in Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco also donated large sums to these groups via donor-advised funds.

AFSI Americans for a Safe Israel

We are an educational organization created to support an undivided Israel.

AFSI was founded in 1970 as an American counterpart to the Land of Israel Movement, asserting Israel's historic, religious, and legal rights to the land re-claimed in the 1967 war. AFSI has argued consistently that a strong, territorially defensible Israel is essential to U.S. and global security interests in the region, and that the "two-state solution," would endanger the world, while bringing the dissolution of Israel.

We are a national organization with chapters throughout the country and members throughout the world. All are dedicated to the premise that a strong Israel is essential to Western interests in the Middle East, and that the Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria and the Golan are the best guarantee against strategic vulnerability, as were the Gush Katif communities.

AFSI supports a policy of "peace for peace" between the Arab states and Israel, and rejects "peace for territory."

My recent writings on the Gaza atrocities ... unimaginable, people of the human race are in a mindset of such a slaughter ... this is not a liberal democracy, but blind hate founded in stupendous religious fanaticism ... only America could have stopped the genocide ... once again they not only failed but were complicit in the act by providing unlimited lethal weapons, systems and aircraft ... gross failure too of the European Commission with former German Defense Minister Ursula Von der Leyen as leader. 🔥 🔥 🔥

Pure terrorism of the worst kind with unlimited military might decimating a civilian population ... HATE written all of the wall.
