Millions in extra funding pledged for ICC work in Ukraine | AP News |

An international conference in London raised 4 million pounds ($4.9 million) to support the International Criminal Court in its investigations into alleged war crimes in Ukraine and its work to hold Russia to account, officials said.

Justice ministers from over 40 countries met in London for the war crimes conference days after the global court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of personal responsibility in the abduction of children from Ukraine. Friday's move was the first time the court has issued a warrant against a leader of one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council.

"We share the belief that President Putin and the wider leadership must be held to account," Britain's Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab said as he opened the meeting.

"Let's make sure that we back up our words with deeds, that we back up our moral support with practical means to effectively investigate these awful crimes."

EXCLUSIVE: "You Have Been Warned": Republican Senators Threaten the ICC Prosecutor over Possible Israel Arrest Warrants

Read the full letter, obtained by Zeteo, which threatens sanctions in defense of Netanyahu.

A group of influential Republican senators has sent a letter to International Criminal Court (ICC) chief prosecutor Karim Khan, warning him not to issue international arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials, and threatening him with "severe sanctions" if he does so.

In a terse, one-page letter obtained exclusively by Zeteo, and signed by 12 GOP senators, including Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Florida's Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz of Texas, Khan is informed that any attempt by the ICC to hold Netanyahu and his colleagues to account for their actions in Gaza will be interpreted "not only as a threat to Israel's sovereignty but to the sovereignty of the United States."

US Politicians Threaten To Invade Int'l Criminal Court If Israel Faces War Crimes Charges | Scheer Post |

US Senators sent a letter to the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor, threatening to impose sanctions and even invade the Hague if it issues arrest warrants for Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In the aggressively worded letter, the senators pledged to "sanction your employees and associates, and bar you and your families from the United States" if Israeli officials face charges over their war crimes in Gaza.
"Target Israel and we will target you", they threatened.

Issuing an arrest warrant for Netanyahu or other top officials would be seen "not only as a threat to Israel's sovereignty but to the sovereignty of the United States", the US politicians wrote, making it clear that they see Israel as a key part of the US empire.

"Our country demonstrated in the American Service-Members' Protection Act the lengths to which we will go to protect that sovereignty", they added.
The American Service-Members' Protection Act is popularly known as the "Hague Invasion Act". The legislation was signed into law in 2002 by President George W. Bush.

Human Rights Watch explained that this law "authorizes the use of military force to liberate any American or citizen of a U.S.-allied country being held by the court".

From the diaries ...

To grant impunity to American Servicemen in the "War on Terror" from International Justice like the ICC, but also extended. Canceling tribunals like after the war crimes of the Vietnam War and of course the death sentences of the Nuremberg trials. The good feeling of being "invincible" ... backfires already for the Zionist project of ethnic cleansing of the Occupied Territories of Palestine. Denigrating the human mind into fascist solutions such as genocide.

UN General Assembly backs Palestinian bid for membership | Arab News |

The United Nations General Assembly on Friday backed a Palestinian bid to become a full UN member by recognizing it as qualified to join and recommending the UN Security Council "reconsider the matter favorably."

The vote by the 193-member General Assembly was a global survey of support for the Palestinian bid to become a full UN member -- a move that would effectively recognize a Palestinian state -- after the United States vetoed it in the UN Security Council last month.

The assembly adopted a resolution on Friday with 143 votes in favor and nine against -- including the US and Israel -- while 25 countries abstained. It does not give the Palestinians full UN membership, but simply recognizes them as qualified to join.

The General Assembly resolution "determines that the State of Palestine ... should therefore be admitted to membership" and it "recommends that the Security Council reconsider the matter favorably."

The Palestinian UN mission in New York said on Thursday -- in a letter to UN member states -- that adoption of the resolution backing full UN membership would be an investment in preserving the long-sought-for two-state solution.

It said it would "constitute a clear reaffirmation of support at this very critical moment for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the right to their independent State."

The US mission to the United Nations said earlier this week: "It remains the US view that the path toward statehood for the Palestinian people is through direct negotiations."

In 2015, historian Tamar Novick was jolted by a document she found in the file of Yosef Waschitz, from the Arab Department of the left-wing Mapam Party, in the Yad Yaari archive at Givat Haviva.

The Israeli version

One of the most fascinating documents about the origin of the Palestinian refugee problem was written by an officer in Shai, the precursor to the Shin Bet security service. It discusses why the country was emptied of so many of its Arab inhabitants, dwelling on the circumstances of each village. Compiled in late June 1948, it was titled "The Emigration of the Arabs of Palestine." Read a translation of the document here

This document was the basis for an article that Benny Morris published in 1986. After the article appeared, the document was removed from the archive and rendered inaccessible to researchers. Years later, the Malmab team re-examined the document, and ordered that it remain classified.

Palestine and History: Macklemore v. Hillary Clinton

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered herself of some ahistorical and distorted remarks about Palestine on Morning Joe, maintaining that the young people protesting the Gaza atrocities do not know history.

Ms. Clinton's self-serving description of the 2000 Camp David process has been debunked by many historians. In fact, her husband Bill Clinton promised in the Oslo Accords in 1993 that Israel would withdraw from Gaza and the West Bank by 1997. He then allowed Benjamin Netanyahu to sabotage that process and allowed the Israelis to double the number of squatters they sent in to the Palestinian West Bank to steal property and terrorize people.

When Netanyahu went out and Ehud Barak came in, Clinton sponsored negotiations, but Barak was maddeningly vague about what he would offer and never produced a text that Yasser Arafat could sign. It is not clear why Arafat needed to sign anything more; he already signed the Oslo treaty, which should have resulted in an Israeli withdrawal that never came. Soon thereafter Barak lost to Ariel Sharon, who was as determined to sabotage any land for peace deal as Netanyahu had been, and he wrecked the whole process.

Her placing of all the blame on the Palestinians is typical of inside-the-Beltway Goy Zionism, and is profoundly ahistorical. The young people can't be fooled by these glib words. They see what they see.

I have also never understood the trope that Israel made generous offers to the Palestinians (it never did) but that the Palestinians rejected them, and therefore the Palestinians should be deprived of all their basic rights forever.

"Offer was made to Palestinians for a state .... on 96% of the existing territory occupied by Palestinians with 4% of Israel to be given to reach 100% of the amount of territory that was hoped for."

From my diaries ...

Hillary Clinton in interview ... didn't mention her desastreus decision to decapitate Libya of its ruler Muammar Gaddafi resulting in increase in terror throughout the Maghreb and loss of Sahel countries to hybrid warfare and influence peddling by Russia.

Not a single American died ... doesn't hold water, she surely didn't overlook her responsibility for the terror raid on the Benghazi compound, nor the thousands of deaths in the aftermath ... how I hate that woman and all she stands for ... from the foreign policy school of Madeleine Albright and Zbigniew Brzezinski. Even her love for "great" Henry Kissinger dooms her judgement. America deserves better.

recycled garbage flowing through a YouTube channel whose host, though heavily armed with invective, was poorly prepared to contest Clinton hagiography. Which is tragic, considering the "deplorable" state of political non sequiturs promoted as "democratized" journalism; and comical, considering the age and provenience of the host is comparable to my own.

Thank you for setting the record straight.

Palestine and History: Macklemore v. Hillary Clinton

The reference is to Columbia University's Hamilton Hall, which students occupied briefly and renamed "Hind's Hall."

Hind Rajab was a Palestinian little girl who got into her uncle's car in northern Gaza on January 29, along with her aunt and four cousins. Under the shockingly inhumane Israeli rules of engagement, unlike anything in any civilized democracy, the car was fair game just because it was in motion out in the open.

Israeli pilots and tank and artillery commanders appear to make no effort at all to avoid killing civilians, explaining why they have murdered over 40,000 people from the air (over 34,000 confirmed and thousands more under the rubble). The car was hit and everyone was killed but the five-year-old Hind. Her cousin had tried calling the Red Crescent rescuers but was herself shot to death. Hind called them back herself, in an incredible feat for a wounded child surrounded by the corpses of her loved ones.
