Erik Prince acknowledges August 2016 Trump Tower meeting with UAE and Israeli emissaries | Al Jazeera - March 2019 |

According to The New York Times, that meeting was attended byErik Prince, Donald Trump Jr, George Nader, a former Blackwater employee and emissary for the crown princes of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Stephen Miller, then a top aide to the Trump campaign and currently a senior policy adviser to the president and Joel Zamel, whose company Psy-Group [signed a memorandum of understanding with Cambridge Analytica} employed former Israeli intelligence operatives and specialised in social media manipulation and was reportedly contacted by Rick Gates, a top Trump campaign official, for proposals for social media manipulation to help Trump win the election.

Prince, however, apparently did not disclose information about the meeting when testifying before the House Intelligence Committee on November 30, 2017, according to a public transcript.

Prince testified under oath that he had "no official, or, really unofficial role" in the Trump campaign. He also told the House panel that he did not have any formal communications or contact with the campaign other than policy papers given to Steve Bannon, attending some fundraisers and a "yard sign".

When asked by Al Jazeera's Hasan about why he didn't then disclose the August 2016 Trump Tower meeting, Prince initially said he "disclosed any meetings, the very, very few" he had.

When pressed further by Hasan, Prince said, "I don't believe I was asked that question."

"The army's evacuation orders called on residents to flee the area, warning that Shujaiya would become a highly volatile combat zone. The army also published a map of areas it marked as dangerous. Residents told Reuters, however, that Israel's attacks on the neighborhood continued relentlessly as people were trying to flee."

US discussing possibility of transferring Israeli Patriot missile defense systems to Ukraine

The US and Germany have already sent Patriot systems to Ukraine, but the Biden administration has made it clear that Kyiv needs more as Russia continues to launch aerial attacks on the country.

Israel has been careful not to overtly criticize Russia, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has tried to walk a fine line with President Vladimir Putin. Russia in 2022 warned that providing Israeli arms to Ukraine would "destroy all interstate relations between our countries."

The Biden administration announced that it was prioritizing critical air defense capabilities for Ukraine over other countries to "ensure Ukraine's survival" in what was described as a "rather extraordinary" policy adjustment at a critical moment for Ukraine.

On June 27, the Financial Times reported negotiations between Ukraine, the US, and Israel regarding the potential transfer of up to 8 Patriot systems, which the Israeli military plans to decommission.

reuters | Israel to build supercomputer to keep pace in global [computer programming], 26 June Unit 8200
Israel next month will launch a tender to establish the country's first supercomputer to ensure the country remains a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, the chief executive of the state-backed Israel Innovation Authority said on Wednesday. Speaking at an AI conference, Dror Bin said that while [Unit 8200] has been a friend for Israel's tech sector, it could turn into a foe without action given [semiconductor fabrication] is a fast evolving technology.

He noted that the government is budgeting $250 million on a national ["intelligence"] programme comprised of government, industry, and academia—60% of which will be executed in 2024 and completed in 2027, possibly with higher funding.

[Surveillance] Tech accounts for 20% of Israel's economic output and the country is widely regarded as one of the largest tech centres in the world. Bin noted that of Israel's 9,000 startups, more than 2,200 use [computer programming] and Israel—with 73—has the third most ["Cyber Command"] firms in the world.
[...]
Bin said that a supercomputer for training large [database] models was crucial in this regard.

"When a high tech company [] researcher wants to train store, manipulate (insert, delete, modify, retrieve) records in a large [database] model they have to buy time in the cloud to operate remote server DBMS apps since, there is no local data centre with significant amount of [CPU*, central processing units] that can train manage records in those models here," he said.

The supercomputer, Bin added, will be available for researchers and companies at [discount price/hr].

* GPU in original betrays investment in computer generated image (CGI) manipulations, from satellite geo and facial recognition to "deepfakes". Which is useless without the other of comparable speed, however.

aftershock evaluates NEW! energy-saving DBMS table ("matrix") operations and the METAphorical null hypothesis

The new high-performance ["]neural["] network consumes only 13 watts of energy, which is comparable to powering a light bulb-thanks to new algorithms

Large language models like ChaptGPT have been proven to produce < wipes tears > surprisingly intelligent results, but the energy and money costs associated with running these large-scale algorithms are sky-high. According to recent estimates, the launch of ChatGPT 3.5 costs $700,000 a day in electricity costs and leaves a huge carbon footprint.

In a new preprint, researchers at the University of California, Santa Cruz, show that it is possible to exclude the most expensive, the most computationally important element of running big language models, called matrix multiplication, while maintaining performance.
[...]
In order for algorithms to multiply matrices, the matrices must be stored somewhere and then retrieved when the calculation time comes. This is solved by [Moore's law] storing matrices on hundreds of physically separated graphics processing units (GPUs), which are specialized circuits designed to perform calculations quickly on very large data sets, developed by hardware [microchip RAM] giants such as Nvidia.
[...]

Understanding the empty set
The researchers developed a strategy to avoid using matrix multiplication using two main methods. The first is a method that allows you to force all numbers inside matrices to be ternary, which means that they can take one of three values: negative, zero, or positive. This allows you to reduce calculations to summation [addition] of numbers, rather than multiplication.
[...]
Understanding the cost
In large language models, words are represented as numbers, which are then organized into matrices. Matrices are multiplied together to create a language, performing operations that weigh the importance of certain words or highlight relationships between words in a sentence or sentences in a paragraph [syntax]. Larger-scale language [DB] models contain trillions of such numbers.
Understanding the "data voids"
[...]
Despite the reduction in the number of operations, the researchers were able to maintain the performance of the ["]neural["] network by introducing time-based calculations into the "training" process [DBMS] of the [DB] model. This allows the network to store in "memory" important information that it processes, improving performance. This method paid off—the researchers compared their model with a state-of-the-art Meta algorithm called Llama [LLM, bitcoin v1, bitcoin v2, bitcoin v3] and were able to achieve the same performance even on the scale of < wipes tears > billions of model parameters.
Memorable quotes in thread googlish

1. "I understand what the optimization is, I don't understand what the result will be in the case of LLM. To what extent will it be possible to implement an accurate model of human language using this method, and accordingly, what kind of 'virtual neural network' of the second level will turn out?"
2. "Conclusion—either "American scientists" are well liked by investors or energy has risen significantly in price. And these researchers created a chimera for themselves, invested billions of dollars in another Dotcom-AI-Enron"
3. "Something's not clean here."
